Chuck, I reviewed your message and checked against names I've come accross including members of 1790s Turkey Creek Baptist church (Abbeville County, S.C.)and did not recognize names. Yet my Norrisses also lived in Saluda River area... Red Bank or Red Creek area plus possibly Newberry. I'm trying to track down the children of Rev. Thomas Norris who died in Newberry area around 1780. I suspect that the children's names are Thomas, William, Elizabeth and Jethro... Thomas, William and Elizabeth all later belonged to Red Bank Church So I am confident that at least these three atre related. Let Me know if you come across anything on these Norrises and I'll do same for you. Thanks Len

Norris

"History and Records of the Charleston Orphan House 1790-1860,"

Brown, Robert William. Admitted Deccember 18, 1834 aged nine years by MARTHA BROWN, mother. (ROSP, January 1, 1835) Delivered to S. NORRIS, father, May 14, 1838. (ROSP, May 21, 1839) Indentures expired December 18, 1846. (N-69)

The family from Abbeville/Pickens Co. DID travel to Charleston and back to Abbeville/Pickens, South Carolina in the early 1800's. I don't know if this is connected to your Robert Norris or not? There was a Samuel Norris enumerated in Abbeville in the early 1800's census. I also have a copy of a death certificate for an A.J.Norris who's mother is listed as last name of Brown (born in Alabama) and father Silas Norris (born in Alabama) but A.J. was born in 1850. It seems the Browns and Norris's "traveled" a lot together?

Also, I have found that Green Norris of Macon Co. GA was most likely a son or Grandson to Robert Norris who was enumerated in the Macon Co. census listed as age 80-90 for the year 1840.

The mystery continues.....

Len;
I am George Norris. The best that I can do to help fill in some gap is to give you the following info.
The search that I am attempting is on my grandfather George W.(William) Norris born in or near Brookhaven, Lincoln, MS, USA about 1888. --- There is also a George Wishington Norris, also born in Brookhaven in 1891, I am uncertain that he is related to me.
Anyway my grandfather married Ida Kelly,born in 1892, from Star, Rankin, MS in Feb. of 1911, in Hinds County, MS.
They had 3 children, Audrey, Vivian, George W.(my father) born in Rayville, Richland, LA on 4 Feb. 1923.
In 1925/26, while still in Rayville, my grandfather walked out and left for parts unknown ---No Divorce---. Two years ago I heard that grandfather left for Oklahoma where he raised another family. My grandmother eventually got a divorce, if memory serves me right, in the 1950's
My dilemma, as you see, is the before and after regarding my grandfather.
If by chance you, or someone else, can HELP connect the dots it would be greately appreciated.
George Norris

HI! KaSaundra, Im knew at this as well, My great grandfather was born in Alabama 1867, and his name was George Washington Norris and he was married to Irena Renie Kelly, they had something like 15 children, and my moma was there grand-daughter. My grandmother was Roxie Norris. Please contact me. My phone number is 734 7885847 (cell) or 734 9816741. I like you have Cherokee in me. I was told by my moma that we had cherokee and found out we are related to John Btown a cherokee indian from Alabama, the song John Brown had one little Indian is him.
I think we could be related. We are supposed to be related to Lena Horne as well and I need to find the connection. Hope to hear from you Good luck Claudia
