George Noakes and Nancy McGuire
It's been several years since any activity has occurred in these forums about George and Nancy, perhaps timely for resuscitating some interest, any descendant researchers want to chime in? anyone still working on these families? Anyone have new information they want to contribute?
Presently, I am looking for the McGuire family bible, Joseph McGuire on his RW pension application stated his sister had the family bible, as Mary (Scarborough) was long time deceased, that eliminated her, the next possibility would have been Nancy (Noakes), likely the last child still living with George would have kept the bible as Nancy had died first.
Anyone have any clues?

Re: George Noakes and Nancy McGuire
I have done a lot of research and i am pretty sure the last child living with George was my 3rd great grandfather, William Noakes even though all the other Noakes researchers have no info on my William but all the census images i have has a child living there the same age as my grandfather and i have some George Noakes documents signed by William Noakes and the same William Noakes living next to Georges Daughter Rebbecca Noakes after George died, I'm pretty sure it was my William but don't know if he was George's son, grandson or nephew, any help would be appreciated

Re: George Noakes and Nancy McGuire
I wonder of Rebecca got the Bible since she and her husband got George's land. It's possible one of the daughters would have taken better care of it than the sons. Just a thought.

Re: George Noakes and Nancy McGuire
My William was born July 24 1825 Lincoln co Ky. i have a 1820,1830,1840 census of George Noakes and in 1830 and 1840 he has a male living with them the same age as my william and 1850 i have my William Noakes living next to William and Rebeca Noakes Delany I also have around 6 documents that are signed by William Noakes and William Delany 1n 1850 that mention renting George Noakes farm and other issues regarding his estate, im having trouble making some of them out. I then have My William Noakes family and Rebeca's Family Moving to Warren Co. Illinois where they all ended up.

Re: George Noakes and Nancy McGuire
What do you have for Nancy's dob?
I have estate docs on George. Both sides of the paper were used and both sides bled through to the other. It's a mess. I didn't learn much from them

Re: George Noakes and Nancy McGuire
I don't think any record has been found to establish Nancy's age, the census rolls from 1810 to 1840 indicate she was about the same age as George, this gives a clue that she may have been a daughter of Mary McKinney McGuire and Lawrence McGuire, which Lawrence is still to be determined and Nancy may have been born in New Jersey rather than Virginia, recent discoveries (documented) show Lawrence #1 as born in Ireland about 1726 and Lawrence #2 being born abt. 1736,(possibly in Ireland) so they may have not been father and son. So if Nancy was about 60 years old when William was born, that fact pose a question about whether he may have been a grandson?, Also about the bible, assuming it was in the family, most of the children were still living in the Lincoln County area in 1847, any one of them could have gotten the Bible at the time the estate was settled.
