Surnames: Noades, Noad, Oade, Odo
(N)oades,(N)oad and Oade are variations of the same local English name. It is thought to be from the Old English meaning pyre/ash-heap/pile. Another possible derivation is from Odo meaning in OE from the Germanic, "riches". The variation is thought to be the same dropped "n" as in Nash,Naish for Ash,Aish. The word (N)apkin also has an "N" erroneously added on to the word for the old word for tablecloth because the word began with "an". I don't know which part of England in which it is found.
