Noads of Southwark

Hi ,

My Noad ancestors came from Southwark and possibly Bristol.

My great grandfather was William Noad born 1850 and married to Eliza Watson. His father was also a William Noad, born 1831 and married to Ellen Agnes Thomas. They were all born and married in and around the Southwark/Newington area.

The father of the elder William was Charles Noad, possibly born Bristol around 1792 and married in 1815 to Ann Juffs or Jeffs. They were all in the boot and shoe trade.

I have more information on siblings etc. And I have investigated the Noads of Rode/Road but cannot make any direct links although there are some coincidences which make me think there may be a connection.

Please post if you think you may be related or have any information.

Anne

Hi,
I've done a bit of work for Dee Gilbert, née Dakin. Her mother was/is a Noad, Nancy Mary Noad, the daughter of Ernest Christian Noad (b.1880), he ran a shoe shop in Kennington, Lambeth.

Maybe you already know her?

Hi June

Great to hear from you. I am descended from Herbert born 1890 who was, I believe, the 10th and last child of William and Eliza. When I spoke to my Mum a while back she mentioned your grandfather, George, but i cannot remember what she said so I will have to ask her. She is one of four children of Herbert.

I have drawn up a family tree which I would be happy to share with you. If you want to email, my address is mouse1960 at hotmail.co.uk and i will email it to you. I am stuck on Charles Noad c.1784 but have a fair amount of circumstantial evidence for who his parents were. It would be interesting to compare notes.

Best wishes, Anne

Hi Anne
Thankyou for your info. on the Noad family. You are descended from Herbert, I am descended from George 1884 and if you go to GINNY-POPE1 Ginny and Liz are descended from Alfred 1886. The only relative from this side of the family that I have ever met is my Dad's (Frederick Thomas 1914) mother Elizabeth. This was back in the 60's when I was about twelve years of age. I work in a Community Hall and perhaps one day when we have all connected with Ancestry.co. we could all meet and exchange info. It would be interesting to see if there are any look-a-likes. I have only just bought my computer so am not too sure on how to use it yet. My daughter Katie was teaching me but she's just bought a flat and left home. My email is jevans4614@hotmail.co.uk. If you would like to pass on any more info. I shall be pleased to hear from you.

Best Wishes June

Hello

I appreciate that this post is a couple of years old however I have not looked at this site for a while and their seems to be a few people looking at one or two leads I looked at.

My Garandfather was born in Hamersmith London and from my brief investigations from before this connection goes back to Somerset and poss Southwark.

I would like to know more if possible.

Mr Ian Charles Noad.

Hi Ian

I have been away so apologies for the delay.

My grandfather, Herbert, was one of at least 9 children of William and Eliza Noad. If you let me have some more information I can see whether you are part of my Noad line. Your grandfather's name would be most helpful or any other names, dates or addresses that you have.

Best wishes, Anne

Hi Ian

How exciting, I think we may be from the same Noads.

After a quick bit of digging and I have found a Charles W Noad born 1912 and registered Fulham, mother's maiden name Davey. An Alfred Noad married Mary Ann Davey in 1908. This Alfred Noad would be an elder brother of Herbert, my grandfather.

If this agrees with what you know then I have traced this line back to Bristol in the early 1800s and have reasonable grounds to believe they go back to a John Noad born Swainswick near Bath around 1675.

I am happy to send you this family tree if you let me have your email address.

Regards, Anne
