Seeking info relating to children and grand children of John Ernest Noack and Elizabeth Watkins of Williamson County, Texas. As with most searchs there are variable spellings of the name; including Noak, Nook, Noak, Nock, and Wadkins.

They had twelve children: Mary Ann (Mollie), Menore Evelyn (Nora), Katherine (Kate), George Franklin (Frank), Charles Rufus (Charlie), Delia, Elvin Benjamin (Ben - my Grandfather), Henry Monroe, Elizabeth Frances (Lizzie), Rosalee, Henrietta (Etta), and Ellen Louise (Ella).

John Ernest Noack is buried at Austin in the Oakwood Cemetery. Elizabeth Watkins Noack is buried in the Round Rock Cemetery.

I have attached an outline descendant report of one generation of thier family. Any info and leads to living relatives is appreciated.

Sorry don't have a Paul Noack in our family tree.
However, that doesn't mean that there may not be some connection. There is one old Great Uncle who lived down in that area that I cannot find any info relating to his family. Have his marriage, his wife's name, and know he is buried at Oakwood in Austin but nothing else.

Are you a Noack or related to the Noacks?

What did you end up finding out in Noack TX? My great-great grandfather went by J.E. Noack (who was married to a Louise). All I know is that they owned a general store in Noack, Texas.

I don't have much info on either J.E. or Louise and would like to know more about them.
I know the John Ernest mentioned in this post is a different person though - the death certificate I have for J.E. is for Lubbock, TX and he was buried in that area...not in Austin. J.E. Noack was also born in Germany.

Celeste,
First I am making the assumption that you are related to Jim and his Mother, Ruth.
Talked to Jim about a week back and it's my opinion we are not directly related, even though there is a common family name throughout the family.
Talking with Jim I think the J.E. Noack associated with the post office at Noack was probably from Jim's family. Like all genealogy stuff there are infinitely more questions than answers.
Jim and I are supposed to talk more at some later date. I sent them a photo of my GGFather to see if it looks like any photos that may be in his photo collection.
I'm always glad to share genealogy data, give me a call. I'm listed in Hurst Tx.
Best Regards

Bernd,
Thanks for the response. Since my early request for family info I have been able to gather numerous facts. My ggrandfather came to Galveston in 1854 on the ship Ben Nevis (this info based on his Statement of Intention to become a US citizen). He settled in the Noack/Taylor/Austin area and had the family of 12 children. At one time our family thought that our J.E. Noack was the one responsible for establishing the post office at Noack, however, at the time the post office was established there was five (5) J. E. Noack's in the area that could have established the post office. I now believe that a family living near me in Arlington Texas was the family of the post office founder. This is based on the fact that my J.E. Noack would have been a relatively old man at the time the post office commission was granted. Another interesting fact centers around the family name. The Texas Wendish Heritage Society has done much work on the passenger manifest for the ship Ben Nevis. It is almost certain (and a fact that I accept) that my ggrandfather's name was spelled as "Johann Nowak" when he arrived at the port of Galveston and through the years for whatever reasons he ultimately used the name "John Ernest Noack". Thanks again for the reply. Not to worry your English is much better than my German.
Best Regards from Hurst, Texas
