Njos, Henjum, Roisum, Husabo
My Gr Gr Gr Grandparents, Ole Ellendson Husabo and Anna Lassesdatter Njos came to the US from Leikanger Norway in 1866 with their children, Sara, Ase, Ellend, Britha, Ragnihilde, and Anna. Their eldest son, Lasse (my Gr Gr Grandfather) came to the US in 1862. In 1867, Lasse sent for his sweetie, Mari Henjum to come to the US. They all settled around Norway Lake Minnesota. Lasse and Mari had 8 Children; Christine, Olaus, Johannes, Andreas, Albert, Edward and Anne. Christine and Anne married Roisum men, Johannes and Edward married Ellingson women. I have alot of that information. If anybody should happen to know anything about Ole and Anna and their children, please let me know. I have the entire Lasse and Mari tree, have access to Sara and Eirick Knutson family information. I do know Ole and Anna lived at the Njos farm Leikanger Sogn og Fjorde Norway, where there were many apple trees. I think Ole had two brothers that also came to America, but I am not sure. I don't know if Anna had any siblings. I heard a rumor that this Njos branch is extinct in Norway. Just for the record, around here Njos is pronounced Ness. Thank you. JJ (Njos) Roberts

Hello, I have a few Roisum's in my tree but I don't go back too far. I would love to exchange information with you. You can see what I have on my on-line family tree at www.neorelic.com/FamilyHistory. Once there, use the search box and search Roisum and you will see who I have. Perhaps there is a connection. I can also send you a ged file. I have another file I can look in and I may be able to find more Roisum's. You can e-mail me directly at samandjj@srt.comHope to hear from you soon! JJ

Re: Njos, Henjum, Roisum, Husabo
Hey, I think the Roisum's you have in your tree are from a different clan of Roiusm's, I believe there is a relation though. My Gr Gr Grandfather Erick Pedersen Roisum was born in July 28, 1862 in Leikanger Parish, Norway and immigrated to Norway Lake, MN in 1886 where he Married Anna Gurine Olsen. When he first settled in Kandyiohi county he lived with his Aunt Ingeborg (his mom's half sister) and her husband Johannes Roisum, thats where we took the Roisum name. I believe the Andrew Martin Roisum you have in your tree may Ingeborg and Johannes child, which would make him my Gr Gr Grandfathers half cousin. My Gr grandfather's name was Johannes(john)and he had 2 brothers named Andrew A. Roisum and Martin Roisum, maybe they were named after Ingeborg and Johannes family members. Anyway, if you need me too look anything up, I have lots of info on Norway lake, kandiyohi county. The book I have has the names Njos and Henjum all over it. Njos was the last name of a long line of Pastors for the first Luthern Church of Norway Lake. Let me know if you can help me with any of the Roisum info, or if you have any ideas who may know. thanks a bunch.

Hello,
Sorry it took me so long to reply - oops! I can send you a ged file, if you would like. I can also send you a GED file I got from N. Hoffland that contains lots of info from the families of the Leikanger area. I do not believe I am related to the long line of Pastors from the Norway Lake area. If I recall correctly, that surname was spelled NIOS not NJOS. As of yet, I have not found anybody else researching the Roisum branch or the Njos branch for that matter. Good thing somebody is!

Hello, This is a bit confusing, but I believe we might have a connection. My gg grandmother was Christi Roisum b. 1857, d 1936, she married Rasmus Rasmusen Thompson. Their first son, Syvert, b 1880, was my grandfather. According to my records, Christie's parents were Andreas Roisum and Marie Henjum Roisum b 11/30, but unknown birth year and d 7/3/1905. Her father was Johan Henjum.

Re: Njos, Henjum, Roisum, Husabo
Hello, jdbricken. If Syvert Thompson is your grandfather, then you and I are first cousins. My father was Ralph.
My information is that Marie Henjum was born 11 Nov 1833 in Norway and died 3 Jul 1905 in Minnesota. I didn't have her father's name. I'm particularly interested in more information about Rasmus Rasmusen Thompson and his ancestors; I have the name Thomas Rasmusen for his father, but nothing more.
You can infer my name and e-mail address from my username. Feel free to contact me if you happen to see this. (I see you haven't logged in in over a year.)
EDIT: I've figured out who you are and sent you an e-mail, which you should see before you see this.
