Anyone with connections to my line of Nisbetts?
My g.grandfather was Arthur Edward Nisbett b. 1881 in Wrangle, Lincolnshire, son of Augustus Frederick Nisbett and Kate (nee Doughton) m.1861 in Marylebone, both London born. Augustus is son of Frederick George Nisbett. Love to hear from you.

If you would like more details I'd be happy to e mail them to you.

Hello there Jill,
I have been researching the execution of Mary LEFLEY of Wrangle Lincolnshire. I'll cut a very long story short...I generally waffle on for hours without breath....anyway, i finally received the Home Office documentation, and your Augustus was a witness for the prosecution! Exciting stuff eh.
There is rather a detailed statement from him....should I post it here, or send it to you privately? My e mail address is b.jordan@ntlworld.com. Let me know if you would like a transcription of the whole of the document. I think its a bit long to type up in one of these messages.
Thanks for replying
Brenda

Hello, we are just starting my husbands family tree and saw your message board, his grandfather was Arthur Edward and his great grandfather was Augustus Frederick, great grandmother Kate, formerly Doughton. We have copies of a few family certificates, maybe we can swap info.
Olwen.

Hi there Derrick and thanks for your message. I haven't done anything with my family history for a couple of years and we are just about to move house so my records are packed away at the moment!!! Bad timing, but bare with me I will get back to you with more information when I can get my hands on it! Off the top of my head I do recall that Ellen Jessie ( I think I only knew of her as Jessie) did become untraceable at an early age but I didn't know the story which you told.

What was the name of your Grandmother and who brought her up? I do have patchy information on Augustus and Kate after 1901 which I will happily share with you when I can get to it! My g Grandfather, Arthur Edward moved to Sheffield to work and Augustus and Kate followed him and were there until their deaths. I have never had much joy tracing the childhoods and parents of either though in London. I have patchy clues but have failed to find concrete evidence! do you know any more about them?
Jill, Aberdeen

Hello Olwen and sorry for the delay - I have only just seen your message. I haven't done any family history for a couple of years and we are just about to move house so my records are all packed away at the moment! If you can bare with me for a few weeks I will happily share information with you.

Who is your husband's father? We must be fairly closely related! Arthur Edward was my great grandfather, his son Henry Norman, (married to Jessie) was my grandfather (and grandmother) , and Trevor is my Dad.

I have quite a bit of detail and a few photographs of Arthur Edward and Augustus and Kate. I have never managed to get concrete evidence of Augustus's childhood and parentage - I have snippets but have never quite managed to tie it all up and make sense of it! Maybe you will have more luck than me!
Thanks for getting in touch,
Jill

Hello Jill, thanks for the reply. My husband Robert was your dads cousin as Henry Norman was his uncle, known as uncle Norman. Sadly my husband 'Bob' passed away in March this year but we would still like to carry on the search as far as possible. Bobs dad was Arthur Frederick, brother to Henry Norman, Raymond, Constance and Annie May, both sisters still living. We have the baptism certificate for Augustas Frederick, his parents are named on it as James Frederick and Eliza. Birth certificate of Arthur Edward born 1881,Wrangle, Lincs and the marriage certificate of Arthur Edward and Annie Maria Upsall which took place at Leverton, Lincs. Hope your house move is successful and i will hear from you soon. Olwen.

Hello again Olwen, I am sorry to hear of the recent loss of your husband, it must be a very sad time for you.

As far as our family history is concerned, I live in Aberdeen so my research has been restricted to online so far but I have some census details for our family from 1841 to 1901 and many certificates from 1837 onwards. I had never managed to find a birth entry for either Augustus or Kate to confirm names of their parents. I had the marriage cert for Augustus and Kate (1861) which gives his father as George Nisbett. I then found census entries showing Augustus living with his father James Frederick and this has puzzled me for a long time. I was also contacted by a descendant of Annie Maria's Upsall family a couple of years ago who shared their family line with me back to 1800.

I am looking forward to sharing all this information with you. Kindest regards meanwhile, Jill
