Hi Judy and fpajerski (sorry, I've spaced on who you are),
There have been a few updates in the format of the online Niquette database, including security measures that prevent the display of living relatives. For this reason, some members of Valeda Niquette's family may not be shown.
In fact I don't really know at this point if Valeda is still living or not. The last xeroxed photo I have of her was taken in 1993 in Alaska. I understand that she was living in Florida in 1995.
As far as the divorce question goes, I do show a "divorce" in the offline version of the database, but I have no other information other than the approximate date of the event and the name of her second spouse, Frank KAEGI.
Until I saw your post, Judy, I had been struggling to determine whether or not there was really a divorce. I had nothing to back up the record and couldn't find the original source. For all I knew, Orville PARMENTIER could have died before Valeda NIQUETTE married Frank KAEGI.
There is yet another twist to all of this. In that 1993 photo of Valeda NIQUETTE in Alaska, the caption reads "Valeda (NIQUETTE) KAEGI and her friend Gerard in Alaska".
How Valeda's friend Gerard fits into all of this I have no idea. Frank KAEGI is not present in the photo, but on the other hand I don't know who took the picture!
Another person has contacted me by email to ask for details about the supposed divorce. At least now I can tell her that one other person reports a second wife for Orville PARMENTIER. This would suggest that the marriage to Valeda NIQUETTE really did end in divorce.
Another reason I checked out this forum was to make sure I wasn't falling too far behind with any updates to the web site address.
Some of the later threads have got it right, but some don't. So here it is again:
http://www.moongenes.comAlas, I tried many variants of "risingmoon", ".com", ".net", and so on, but they were all taken. "moongenes" was as close as I could get and still come up with a URL that was easy to type - for me, at least!
BTW, I do show children for Valeda NIQUETTE and Orville PARMENTIER in the offline database; but as far as I know most of these individuals are living so I can't display them in the web version.
However, I can generate reports containing all the information I have. These can be sent to relatives and bonafide researchers in MS Word format via email attachments. I could also generate the reports in text and (I think) WordPerfect, but I haven't tried that in a while.
The offline database is maintained using The Master Genealogist program. I can use this to export the entire database to GEDCOM or Family Tree Maker files. This is another way I could make the offline version of the data available to researchers.
If either of you would like to exchange additional information, please let me know. There is a "Contact" button on the web site that can be used to send email to me.
Take care my friends,
Ron Niquette
