      <description>LINCOLN - John E. Nighswander, 94, of Lincoln died Tuesday, May 10, 2005, at Christian Village in Lincoln.&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;He was born Jan. 16, 1911, in Moultrie County, the son of Grover and Mary Kirk Nighswander. He married Reba Smith in 1933 in Bridgeport; she died in 2002. A daughter, Nancy Sager, also preceded him in death.&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;Mr. Nighswander retired from General Electric in Mattoon in 1976 after 29 years. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Mattoon.&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;Survivors: four sons, Richard (wife, Donna) Nighswander of LaGrange, Ronald (wife, &lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;Stelle) Nighswander of Philadelphia, James (wife, Karen) Nighswander of Springfield and Thomas (wife, Judy) Nighswander of Chicago; 17 grandchildren; and 38 great-grandchildren.&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;Services: 11 a.m. Saturday, Lincoln Christian Church, the Rev. Ryan Edgecombe officiating. Burial: Dodge Grove Cemetery, Mattoon.&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;Holland and Barry Funeral Home in Lincoln is in charge of arrangements.&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;-------&lt;br&gt;FYI only&lt;br&gt;source:  State Journal Register,  Springfield IL   5/12/05</description>
