In process of researching church records from Trillfingen for Stehle ancestors. To date, can trace Anton Stehle marriage to Magdalena Beutter/Beitter/Beutner Nov. 26, 1792. Anton came to the U.S. (Ohio) with his son, Menradus, in 1833 and died in the U.S. but we can't find where he was born. Anton and Magdalena Stehle had the following children in Trillfingen:
1793 Nicolaus
1795 Menradus
1797 Vincentius- went to Halbturn, Hungary and married there 1829
1798 jacobus-died 1820 in Trillfingen
1800 Melchior
a few children died as babies in these years
1806 Christiana
If anyone else recognizes any of these as belonging to their families or if they would like to share insight into navigating through these church records, please contact me.

Re: NIGGEL Family

Hello

I saw your post and thought I would drop you a line.
My family name is Nigl, once written Niggl. My family came from Eastern Bavaria. Most Nigls,Niggls,Niggels came from the areas of Bavaria and Austria. It is possible that in some record it is listed that they came from Baden-Wurttemburg, but if you trace it back, you will most likely discover they came from the Salzburg,Berschtesgaden area.
The give away is the use of "g" rather than the harsher "K"
sound. The further north you go in Germany the more often a name like Niggel is spelled Nickel or Nikl.
An exception is a family named Niggel who once ruled the port of Hamburg (far north of Germany) but on their family crest they displayed the Bavarian Lion, which leads one to guess that they had made their way to Hamburg from Bavaria at some point in time.(around the 13th century). There is a web site in Germany, which locates family names, when you type in Niggel or any variation using a g, it usually shows
Bavaria and parts of Austria as the greatest concentration of this name. Hope this helps.
Charles Nigl

Pamela,
I have e-mailed you before and received no reply - so I thought possibly you did not receive my e-mail.
I have many Niggels from Butler County in my family genealogy. The original immigrants were Andreas & Juliana Niggel from Baden who came with their children: Danielas, Conradus, Bonaparte & Waldburga. Andreas & Juliana were born in the 1700's.
All children were born from 1814 - 1823 in Baden.

I believe they immigrated from 1825. - 1840. The Naturalization and census records are there from the 1840 on... Most married and all generations lived in Butler next to each other...through the 1900s.
I am hoping to locate the town that they might have
immigrated from in Baden. I have all records available and nothing has yielded that information. I have also checked the Baden/ Wurtemburg Immigration Volumes.
Could you possibly help ??? Thank you.
Jeannie Kane

Does anyone know of a Frank Niggel who married Alvira B. Jackson in April 1894? I think they might have been married in Butler, PA. Frank's mom may have been Angela or Angelina whom I believe was widowed at a young age with something like 6 children under age 10. I'd love to know what the story is.

Thank you,
Kim

John,
I just recently acquired my computer and I don't have any of my information in it yet. I have not done any research since May and it is all on paper in an unorganized manner. So give me a few days to locate and review it and I will contact you. I, too, would be interested in comparing notes. We had planned a trip to that area for Oct 2001, but had to change them. Now my sister is leary of flying , and especially not to Europe, so it is postponed indefinitely. It would be good to talk to someone who has been there. Hopefully we can make a connection that will help both of us. Thanks, talk to you soon.

Here is my e-mail address if you wish to contact me directly.
marilynsn@hotmail.com

Lynn,
I saw you posting which made reference to Binsdorf Germany. My PFISTER ancestors left Binsdorf in 1853 and went to Cambria County, Pennsylvania.

I have visited the town of Binsdorf numerous times conducting research on my family. I have pictures, maps, and historical information about the town. I have contacts in Binsdorf that are able to do some checking of town records.

I would be interested in comparing notes with you.

John Pfeister
Green Bay, WI

Lynn-Thanks for responding to my posting. Your e-mail address did not appear in your posting, so here's mine: flashgreg@aol.com. I just received some info from the Butler Area Public Library suggesting the following lineage: Fred (grandfather), Frederick (g grandfather, Michael (gg grandfather)and Frederick (ggg grandfather-born ca 1793). I'm also told that the eldest Frederick was the father of Conrad, Michael and Thaddeus. I'd appreciate any info you could e-mail me, whether or not consistent with the above. Thank you.

I have info about my gggrandfather who came from Germany in 1851 who had a son named Frederick. Maybe it is the one you are looking for because Wurttemberg is not far from Binsdorf where my ancestors are from. We have traced our family back that far, and believe we still have family there. I was told that they have a reunion in Germany each year. If these Fredericks are in fact one and the same, then we share the same gg grandfather whose name was Michael Niggel. I
have more info if you are still looking, more than I can post here. Contact me at the e-mail address listed and I will be happy to share what I have. This may also have a connection to the man who came from Germany during the WWI era.
