Hello Mike,
Thanks so much for the quick and informative reply. I will look at your website shortly.
My connexion is through Bertha KEARSEY she was my cousin and the daughter of James KEARSEY and Harriet POWELL of West Dean, Gloucestershire.
Part of the problem with Henry NIBLETT is that his real name was William Henry NIBLETT, but seems to have used Henry in favour of William.
He must have died some time between 1881 and 1891, as he seems not to be listed with his family in the 1891 Census - although the image on Ancestry.com is missing so I can't be sure that Bertha is a widow. However, she seems to have remarried to Arthur John ROBERTS by 1893. He is listed as living in the NIBLETT household in the 1891 census, but again because of the missing census image, I can't say what his relationship is to the family, perhaps a lodger.
From the details of William and Bertha's marriage at Christchurch, Gloucestershire on 24 June 1876 his father is listed as Samuel NIBLETT. But then you most likely know this. I agree that it is difficult to tie him to his parents, and yes his age is questionable - I think he was born in West Dean in 1848.
If you'd like more info on Bertha than please let me know.
Cheers,
Don Cameron. (Sluggan1)
