If you go to the Bureau of Land Management site which you should be able to do by clicking on this, Bureau of Land Management - Eastern States Home
you will find an early deed for Robeson.

My ancestor is Andrew JARRETT (gggrandfather) I believe that all of these early JARRETTS who came to Hancock co. were related. (Neri, Robeson, Andrew, and Owen) They all seem to have come from Kanawha co. WVA. If you are connected to any other JARRETTS in Madison or Hancock co, I would love any information that you may have. I can share more information on other Jarretts in the area if you are interested. Barbara

Hi, Apparently there was a lot of searching by a Clyde Neibarger in 1940. He had been to Washington and saw the US Census and the War Department. I recently found a letter to my father, Clarence Nibarger. He (Clyde) talked about the changing of the name, etc. All I know was that they thought they all came from Christian Neiberger of Virginia who died there in 1787. He mentioned many different spellings of the name, however this search has not meaning of the other spellings of Nibarger, nor are there any postings that I saw. My father died at age 73 in 1972. In the letter lt seemed that all of the descendants of the Nibargers came from the four sons of Christian Neiberger of Virginia. He (Clyde) and my father were originally from Kansas. He found out that my grandfather was Lemuel who was born in Indiana in 1862. My father's mother was a Suth, unssure of her first name. His sister was Grace (Nibarger) Sullivan. Our families moved to California in 1942 I think, I was born in 1943 and have two brothers, we all have children. My grandfathers brothers & sisters were Jane, Abbel, David and Sara E. He had obtained this information from a Wayne at Virgil, MO and a my father's aunt Sarah M Rogers of Seneca, Mo. Apparently they also stated my Grandfather's name was William and he had four brothers: Abraham, John, George and Christopher. I know they were dead before I was born in 1943.
Unfortunately my father did not keep a copy that I know of of the information he sent to Clyde, but Clyde said he did a good job and was appreciative. He also answred a question my father had posed about a Jessie Nibarger at Carterville, MO. Stated that she was the daughter of Joseph Wesley Nibarger, a veteran of the Civil War, who had at one time lived in Girard,Kansas, near Pittsburg. Joseph died in 1922 in Joplin, MO where my father was living in 1940, the time of the letter. Apparently Jessie was about a third cousin of my father, the line going way back to the early part of the 1800's in Ohio and Indiana. Clyde was to send a diagram of the family line when finished, but I have never seen that.
I would love to hear about your search. I was told that we had some Cherokee Indian in our line and would love to find out if that is true and what the connection is.
Would appreciate any info you have.
God's Blessings, Kathy

Hi, Not sure if any of the following will help. We are probably related in some way. Apparently there was a lot of searching by a Clyde Neibarger in 1940. Apparently they also stated my Grandfather's name was William and he had four brothers: Abraham, John, George and Christopher. So, John in 1859 would be about right, my dad was born to Lemule in 1898 or 99. Unfortunately my father did not keep a copy that I know of of the information he sent to Clyde, but Clyde said he did a good job and was appreciative. He also answred a question my father had posed about a Jessie Nibarger at Carterville, MO. Hi. My Great-Great-Great Grandmother was Emaline Nibarger her parents were Jacob Nibarger and Lucinda Harris. I cannot find any information on Emaline specifically and I was wondering if anyone new anything about her. Also, I was curious as to the origins of Jacob and Lucinda...were they from Geremany? Were they Jewish? Anything will help since there is such little information that my family knows about Emaline...Thank you!

I am searching for roots to the Nibargers as well. I have no info on those names, except that we can seem to trace our Nibarger line vaguely back to the 1700's when 3 brothers came over from Germany. The spelling may have been different, but it all seems to be German. Good luck.
