Evelyn Cordella N. Cox, age 95 departed from life July 26, 2011.
Evelyn was born to the union of James Blaine and Carrie Elizabeth (Lucas) Newsom in New Jasper, Ohio.(Greene County)
She graduated from Cedarville High School and attended what was then Wilberforce College, Wilberforce, Ohio.
She was married to Lloyd W. Cox for 59 years whom preceded her in death.
Also preceded in death 3 sisters; Freda Roberts, Cristell Carr, Carol Holland.
Evelyn worked in the US Treasury Department and during WW II was a Teletype operator in the US Signal Corps at WPAFB. She also worked many years in the Dayton, Ohio Public Schools.
She enjoyed gardening, playing her organ and spending time with family.
In recent years she was an active and a popular resident at Wright Place Senior Residence in Xenia, Ohio.
She leaves to cherish her memory 3 sons, Lloyd (Ida), Ronald (Linda), and Terry Cox; 2 sisters: Betty Crump of Bellefontaine, Ohio, Mary Harmon of Springfield, Oh and 1 brother, Morris (Betty Anne) Newsom of Xenia, Ohio; grandchildren: Mildred, Michael, Monica, Laura, Lora, Todd, Lamarr and 11 great-grand children; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Memorial Services will be held at Woodland Mausoleum, 118 Woodland Ave, Dayton, Ohio on July 29, 2011 at 12:00 pm.
In lieu of flowers contribution can be made to Cancer and Heart Research.
