I am looking for information on my great grandmother Anneliese Neu. Her maiden name was Barre. She was born in Wesermunde, Germany. She came to America when she was 19 and then she married my great grandfather Paul in 1931. They had a daughter named Marian. My great grandmother and my grandmother went back to Germany to visit relatives then the war broke out and Anneliese died in Wesermunde in April 1936. My grandmother was raised by an aunt and had cousins in Germany. There is barely any information on Anneliese and if anyone has any information that could help it would mean a lot to my family. Like where is she buried? Why did she die so young? Are there any more relatives in Germany? Please contact me if you have any information. Thank you.

My mother's maiden name was Neu, she passed away March 2012.
I remember her talking about a Jacob Neu. My mother was brought up on a farm in Saskatchewan Canada.

Family Bible NEU and LAMB

Greetings!
I have come across a family Bible that has no surnames that I can discern in my line.
There are several obituaries and a few handwritten names/dates. This is an excerpt from one of the obits:

Aaron NEU, born 12 April 1867 in Palestine, IN. Parents were Mr. and Mrs. Bernard NEU, they lived in Elkhart. His wife was Olive LAMB, date of marriage 1 January 1897. Olive LAMB died 21 January 1927. Survivors listed in the obit are Mrs. Carlton Smith (daughter, no first name given), sons Wilbur NEU and Howard NEU, granddaughters Vern Jean SMITH and Leora Joyce NEU and brother David Neu. The family seems to have resided in the Elkhart/Middlebury area.

I am trying to find the family to whom this Bible belongs. Please respond if any of these names are familiar or if you have other names I might be able to check in the handwritten section or the obits.

Charles Neu immigrated to the U.S. from Germany in about 1849. Presumably, his father was Bergameister of Kaiserslautern. Charles was born in about 1816. He married Anna Maria Miller in about 1850. He lived in Warren, Massachusetts in 1880. I am interested in his life in Germany and where he was before he lived in Warren.

Hope someone can help me find more information on Gottlieb Neu, Maria or Louisa Neu and Peter Neu.

Death June 27, 1896
Buried St. Ansgar, Iowa - Immanuel Lutheran Church Cemetery Grave marker #10

Arrival to US November 18, 1868 on the Aleppo from Liverpool to Boston.

He arrived with wife Maria, children Dora (Minnie Wolff), Fred, Ernestena (Heiden) and infant Peter.

I can find an 1870 census living in Royalton, Niagara, New York and that is it. Where was he between 1870 and his death of 1896. I have tried all the listed spellings above with no results.

Any help filling in the gap would be appreciated.

My mother's maiden name was Neu and all I know is that her father Jakob Werner Neu died in Germany sometime after she was born in 1958. I cannot seem to find any information on him or her mother whose last name is Eisenmenger. Both names seem to be a dead end. Cna anyone help?

Nicholas Neu - Adam Neu - Brothers - St Marie Il in 1860's

I am wondering if they were brothers, Nicholas was listed as living with the Boos family in St Marie in the 1860 census, Adam upon his 1860 arrival located to St Marie also, both served in the Civil War, Adam stayed in St Marie, and married a catharine McCormick Gleason.

Does anyone have a family linkage to / of Nicolas back to St Marie,Il, which would link Adam and Nicholas , and hopefully back to Alsace , and if so the home town in Alsace ? or another area?

She is not listed in the 1870 census. She and Frederick had two sons - George John Gross (1858-1941) my great grandfather; and Charles Gross born 1859.

Frank is pictured in the yearbook of the 422nd Technical School Squadron at Amarillo Army Air Field in Amarillo, Texas. The 422nd produced mechanics and technicians to maintain the Flying Fortresses. I'm not kin but thought this might help someone researching this family.

searching for info on my gr, gr grandfather, Adam Neu reportedly born in the early 1840's in Alsace Lorraine, arrived 1860 in Baltimore, served in the Civil War , lived in St Marie his entire life , died 1899. married a Catherine Gleason in 1885, possibly had a brother Nicholas Neu who proceeded him and lived in St Marie also, parents were possibly Jacob Neu and a Mony Schaf.

My great great grandfather was Rudolph Neu. You proably have met mother Lorrie M. (Johnson) Daniel. I am Dorothy (Neu) Holsworth's great grandson, and Cheryl (Holsworth) Johnson's grandson.
I have recently discovered that his full name was Rudolph Wilhelm Freiderich Fritz Neu. The Wilhelm Freiderich Fritz comes from those who witnessed his baptism.William Bartels (his uncle), Frederick Pollitz (known as Fritz and is buried a few graves over from Anna M (Bartels) Neu Rudy's mother), and Frederich Holloman?.
He was born on May 20,1894 and went to the Catholic orphanage in Laffayette, IN. He met Marie Gertrude Burgart in Monroeville,IN and they married in 1916.In 1917 Hutoka Eileen (Neu) Neireiter was born and in 1919 Anna Lavon later renamed Donna Jean (Neu) Benschneider.In 1921 Thyral Lyman "Bud" Neu was born.On March 15, 1925 Dorothy Elizabeth (Neu) Holsworth.In 1932 Gerald Phillip Neu was born.Rudy died on October 20 or 22, 1982. His Father was Herman F Neu died in 1926.He is buried in Lindenwood cemetery(Unmarked grave) His mother Anna M Bartels died on January 31, 1899.She is buried in Concordia Lutheran Cemetery(older part. the office is on lake av. at concordia cemetery gardens.Herman died on February 10, 1926 of mouth cancer. Anna died of a flu type disease. there is a story that if there was a doctor there she would have lived.She was 44.Marie (Burgart) Neu died on June 23, 1965 of a heart problem.Rudy died of "old age" as my mom put it.Ed Neu was his full brother who fought in WWI and had asthma when he was gassed by the germans.this ultimately led to his death. He had a half brother Ben W Kuenert born in germany in 1874. Herman and Anna supposedly met on the boat to america.She would have had ben with her at the time. i do not know who ben's father was, maybe his father stayed in germany. My Anna Neu was born 1875 in Germany, Immigrated in 1880 and died in 1937. She was married to a Hambrock. No sources I have indicate she lived in Ohio. This family immigrated to Indiana.

I have NEUs in the Dayton OH area in the 1870s. Franz Neu, whose parents were Frederich Neu and Helen Stomps. Franz and his wife Rosina Wehinger both immigrated from Germany as kids. Their daughter was Frances NEU. There were several sons too. All in Dayton I believe.
I have an unplaced ANNA (surname unknown) who was about 60-70 years old in 1946 and who lived in Indiana. I don't know that she was NEU but I know she was from that side of my family. Could she be your Anna Neu?

Sorry. No Elizabeth Neu's in my research to date. The Neu family that intersects mine came from Germany and settled in Ohio -- no early evidence of this group of Neus moving further west in mid 1850's. Had same experience as you though -- Margaret Neu was listed in one Federal Census as Margaret New! If I find something I will be back in touch.

I too am searching for Neu's. I believe my great grandmother was named Elizabeth Neu. She was born in St. Louis, MO, probably in the late 1850's or early 1860's. She married a Henry Becker. The only Elizabeth Neu I have found is in the 1860 census and she is indexed as New and not Neu. She is the daughter of J. K. New and Elizabeth New and they are living in Paudach, Kentucky. I do not know if this is the Elizabeth I am looking for or not. If you have come accross any Elizabeth Neu in your research and could share with me I would be greatful.

Saw your inquiry re: Neu Family (Wolf) in Brown County, Ohio a year ago. My GGG Aunt was Margaret Neu (nee Wolf(e)) married to Jacob Neu. When my GG Grandfather Frederick drowned (Margaret's older brother) in 1886, his wife, Mary (Mueller) was unable to care for the family and dispersed them to other family members. My G Grandfather, Frederick Wolf, was sent to live with Jacob and Margaret Neu and was raised by them until the early 1900's when he married my G Grandmother, Margaret Walker. I have some information on the Neus. I have a photo of Margaret that I received from members of the Neu family.

My ancester is Abraham Nye, born 1831, died March 11, 1912 in Kingman, Kansas. I have a copy of pages from A Genealogy of the Nye Family, A supplement to Volumes I, II, and III, compiled by R. Glenn Nye. This report his birth in England, but I think he was born in Germany. I am trying to trace him as an descendent of Nickel Neu, born 1530 in Germany. I recall my mother owning that same book but during move it has been misplaced and I've been trying to bridge the gap between a Lillian "Lillie" B Nye, b. 1885 d. 1948 in Harrisburg, PA. She Married a John Austin Alrbight b. 1884 d. 1962. Any information you can give as far as the lineage from Lillie to Johan Adam would be greatly appreciated.

Hi. My name is John Scott Prinke. My greatgrandmother was Anna Neu (1856). My grandfather was William G. Prinke (1886), and my father is John R. Prinke (1924).

I have some records regarding John Herman Prinke (died WWI)and William G. Prinke, who would seem to be Anna Prinke's brothers. I also have lots of information regarding the William G. Prinke + Margaret Herman family and descendants (children:John, Amanda, Dorothy; eight grandchildren, etc).

Rudolph, Conrad and Charles Neu

Looking for the parents of Rudolph (1882), Conrad (1871) and Charles Neu (1886) born in Germany, came to the US in 1888 Have not been able to find the rest of the family, nor the record of immigration.

I do know that Conrad married Louisa around 1892 and the family was living in Illinois in 1900. At that time they had two sons, William and Rudolph.

Ruldolph married Mary Katherine Ostrum in Chicago and traveled to Florida.

Do you have any information on Rudolph Neu Born 1882 in Germany. He came to the US in 1888.
He have several brothers and sisters, but the only ones I know are Conrad born Jan 1871, (married Louisa), and Charles born Mar 1884.
