I have a little info I can add to your information. I am researching James Nettleton b. 1830 in Canada who was in Illinois at the same time as Amos, enlisted in the army at the same time, and married Armenta's sister Louisa. I've been trying to find James' parents and how do Amos, James, Daniel, and Abraham relate to each other.
Info I have for you: Amos died 8 Jul 1896 and is buried in the old Louisville Cemetary, Clay Co, Illinois. However, Armenta was not buried with him but the birth date matches. I did not have Newton nor Nora but I do have William born 1843 and Josiah born 1845.
your iv. Eliza Charity - born 1848. I was told she died in 1918 and is buried in Salem, Illinois but I haven't confirmed that.
I show that Amos and Aramenta also had a child M S Nettleton born 1859 - any idea who that is?

Eliza "Charity" J C Nettleton Stage Houchin is buried in Salem Illinois with her son-two wives and 3 grandchildren.I have her death cert as she was my great grandmother thru marriage. There was a Newton -no Mary S her name was Demarius. I also have Amos' death record.

My great grandfather, Newton Nettleton (the son of Amos Nettleton, Sr.), was born 7/25/1861 in Illinois, died 7/21/1930 in Clarkton, MO. He married Nancy Cato, who was born 8/1867, in Missouri, and died 6/13/1934, in Clarkton, MO. They married in Clay County, Illinois, 10/15/1883.

I have more names and dates on their children, James, Ida Isabelle, and Margaret Dessie.

I am new at computers and tried to post you a message earlier, but think it failed, so will try again. My great grandfather Newton Nettleton was born in 1861 so could not have written a letter during the Civil War. However, there was an earlier Newton that I personally have no info on who may have been the author.

Their daughter Dessie Nettleton married Curtis Grissom, and they had a dau. named Ida Belle Grissom, (probably named after her aunt Ida Isabelle). Curtis & Dessie's dau. Ida Belle Grissom married Lenon Marlon Rowland, and their son was Ronald Dewight Rowland. Ronnie married my sister, and they had a son Brett Andrew Rowland. I'm trying to help him find his Ancestor's. Anything you may share with me about the Grissom, Nettleton, Cato, or Bullard's, would really be appreciate'd very much.

I'm also working on Newton H. Nettleton family. I wonder if you could tell me more about their children ; James T., Isabella, & Dessie Nettleton. Dessie married Curtis Grissom, and they lived at Parma, Mo., according to the 1920, & 1930 Census! I have that James married Martha Bell Grissom, and they lived in Clay Co., Arkansas, and Clarkton, Mo.! Curtis & Dessie had several children, one daughter was Ida Belle Grissom, she married Lenon Marlon Rowland. They left Parma, Mo. and moved back to Henderson, Chester Co., Tenn., that is where Lenon's family lived. Please contact, so I'll know you received my reply!
