Veteran of the war of 1812. Widening an indian trail in 1813, he supervised the building of an military road from
Fort Daniel to Shallowford on the Chattahoochee River
About 1815, meeting at the
Wynn house at Hog Mountain he and others created
Gwinnett County and was appointed first sheriff and was elected the second and fourth terms as state legislator. He represented
Gwinnett County at Miledgeville from 1826 - 1837
On this site was located his plantation of 650 acres.

Norcross GaThere are 16 graves in the site that are in an area of about 40 X 60 foot. There is a short iron fence around it.
One thing noted is that the early burials had only one "T" on the spelling of
Nesbitt.
