Arthur Nesbit dies Intestate

I have a letter from Emery, Hoppit & Neville, Broadstairs, Kent, England dated in 1957 stating my great grandfather was an heir to the estate of Arthur Nesbit who died interstate. I know that the estate paid, but what I don't know is any connect to the family which is very large as they stated. My great grandfather was William Lovejoy Nesbitt. (He changed the spelling to 2 T's)he was born 29 Jan 1885 in England I believe. Moved at some point to Canada and than to the states. Anyone that can help me connect to the rest of my family I would appreaciate your help.

My gg grandfather Gilbert Marquis DeLafayette Nesbit was born in 1840, New Richmond, Ohio and eventually had a family in Rardin, Coles County, Illinois. Sara, Martha, Margaret and Clara were daughters.

Can/will anyone comment on what health issues may have come down his/her Nesbit (et al.) line? Most especially I'm interested in whether other branches of the clan are affected by bi-polar disorder, formerly known as obsessive-compulsive disorder. One of my children has been diagnosed, and it was thought the gene came down another line, but one of my Nesbit cousins had a sister diagnosed with it, also, which has gotten us wondering! Mary Jane Nesbitt

I am looking for any information on Mary Jane Nesbitt. Born October 29 1841 in Elmira Ireland. Baptized in Mt. Norris church. Her parents are Elizabeth Andrews and Thomas or John Nesbitt. She immigrated to Philadelphia circa 1857 and worked as a nurse. She met a smallpox patient Captain William G. or George W. Swift and they married Sept. 10 1864. They had 9 children together. One of which was George W. Swift the Bordentown, NJ inventor. He had over 100 patents, mostly dealing with cardboard.
My mother has the Swift family Bible with two pictures of Thomas Nesbitt one is presumably her father the other her brother but we can find no record of either man.
Does anyone have any information that can either confirm or rule out the names of her parents?

MUSCATINE, Iowa -- Rita Lynne Nesbit, 42, Muscatine, died Sunday, March 24, 2002, at Unity Hospital.

Services are at the Geo. M. Wittich-Lewis Funeral Home. The Rev. Sharon Phillips will officiate. Pallbearers are John 'Rick' Curtis, Brandon Mizell, Jesse Harris, Paul Lahr, Robert Crabtree and Chad Ash. Honorary pallbearers are Marvin Crabtree, Eddie Nesbit, Leslie Nesbit, Roy Nesbit, Larry Barton and Mike Brown. Burial will be at Greenwood Cemetery.

Mrs. Nesbit was born on Feb. 28, 1960, in Muscatine, the daughter of Charles and Delores James Nesbit. She married Kenneth Nesbit on April 5, 2001, in Muscatine.

She and her husband have been together 18 years.

She attended Jesus Mission Church.

She enjoyed singing, crafts and playing bingo. She had a doll collection.

Survivors include her husband; a son, Lucas W. Nesbit of Muscatine; two daughters, Felicia L. Nesbit and Amber N. Nesbit, both of Muscatine; a step-daughter, Tanya of Minnesota; two step-grandchildren; her mother, Delores Barton and her husband, Larry, of Muscatine; four sisters, Tresia Mizell, Donna Harris, Elizabeth Curtis and her husband, John, and Mary Ellen Lahr and her husband, Paul, all of Muscatine; and 13 nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her father and her grandparents.

Survivors include her husband, Jerry Gibson of Muscatine; one son, Daryle Snyder Jr. of Muscatine; one daughter, Angel Gibson of Muscatine; three grandchildren, Tosha, David and Christopher; four brothers, Marvin Crabtree, Leslie Nesbit, Eddie Nesbit, and Roy Nesbit, all of Muscatine; three sisters, Pansy Hays, Mrs. Thelma Peterson and Lilly Johnson, all of Muscatine; and dedicated friends, Connie Estabrook and Jayme Bramble.

She was preceded in death by her parents; stepfather, Edward Logel; one son, Craig Allen Snyder; three brothers, LaVern, Cecil and Charles; and two sisters, Eva and Charlene.

hi, i have only just started doing research, so dont know much yet, but my g grandfather was a nesbit who came from scotland to queensland australia, had a family then moved them to petone in new zealand.hope this helps bev

Thank you Karen! This could be a good lead. My Samuel's wife's maiden name was Berry. Her father's name was John, he died in 1771 but there are two other John Berrys listed in his will - not sure if they were his grandsons or nephews but one could be the Capt John Berry you mention. I appreciate the info!

I don't know if this is the same Samuel, but I do know my 5 gg, John Nesbitt, born, Dec 1753, Ireland, and died 11 May 1841, Dickson County, TN, had an Uncle Samuel, mentioned on page 729 of South Carolina Roster. It states:
Nisbett, Samuel
From 16 May to 27 August 1779, he served under Captain Andrew Berry. In addition, he served as a lieutenant from 2 June to 14 Septmeber on foot fromm 15 February to 15 May 1780 under Captain John Berry and Col. Roebuck. At sometime he was a captain in the militia under Col. Roebuck.
(Nisbett, Robert; S4617); A.S. 5480: X3234: X3661.
I found another source that this family of Nesbitts was from County Down, and I believe it was verified by DNA from present-day male Nesbitt descendants.
You could check the source numbers from the DAR, and see if your Samuel shows up somewhere in there.
John's brother was Robert Nesbitt, Jr., and it is the source that states his uncle was Samuel, under whom he had served.

I am looking for information on Samuel Nesbit b.1754 d.1814 near Cynthiana Kentucky. Samuel is my g,g,g,g,grandfather. Family stories always tied our ancestors back to the Nesbit clan near Duns Scotland - possibly going to Ireland first then America. But I have not been able to find information on where Samuel was born or his parents names. Does anyone have information that might help me locate Samuel's ancestry? Samuel was married to Mary Berry. James Nesbit is the son of Samuel and Mary. James b.1785 d.1874 married Hannah Journey March 1808 Cynthiana Kentucky. James and Hannah moved to Posey County Indiana circa 1817. James Garrett Nesbit is the son of James and Hannah. James Garrett married Dorcas Bishop. Their daughter Martha Rawlston Nesbit b.1850 d.1926 married William Montgomery. Their daughter Floral Montgomery b.1888 d.196? married Percy Corwin Fisher b.1884 d.1966. Their son James Edward Fisher b.1927 married T. Jeanne Agee in 1950. I'm their daughter.

Indiana Nesbit - James son of Samuel

Looking for information on Samuel Nesbit (my g,g,g,g,grandfather). I can trace my family back to James Nesbit born 1785 died 1874 married to Hannah Journey 1808 in Kentucky - moved to Posey County Indiana circa 1817. James is the son of Samuel Nesbit born 1754 died 1814 near Cynthiana, Kentucky. Samuel was married to Mary Berry. I have no information on where Samuel was born or who his parents were. I was always told that our family went back to the Nesbit clan near Duns, Scotland but I've not been able to make that link. Anyone out there who can assist?

Hi,I am William Nesbit Jr 47, was born and raised in South Carolina. Served in the military were I had come across Nesbits white and black. I myself have been curious about the family tree since I heard my grand father had a twin brother who was never heard from again. My grand father was Arthur Nesbit. Ross M Nesbit, son of Moses and Catherine?

I'm starting up my search again after several years of inactivity. My previous inquiries were under the username lgesales.

I've traced Ross as my g-grandfather and know he was married to a Catherine (unknown maiden name). Looking for her identity, date of birth and death. Ross died 1892 and is buried in Jackson Parish, La.

It is the William Nesbit line . . .

the old home is not too far down the road from there. He was the first (or second in some accounts) sherriff of Gwinnett County. He also was in charge of making "Old Pitch Tree Road", which is now known as Peachtree Road.

Andrew and John Nesbit

Looking to correspond with descendents of Andrew or John (J?) Nesbit. Andrew and John were born in Sydney, Cape Breton, Nova Scotia, Canada, sons of Robert and Maria Margaret (Ross) Nesbit. John went to Seattle, Washington - When? Did he marry? Andrew and his brother Robert (Bob) moved to Weymouth, Nova Scotia to work in a ship yard. Bob married and remained in Weymouth. Andrew married Augusta Frances Doty and in the 1881 Nova Scotia census they were in South Ohio Yarmouth County with daughters Alice 1880, Lorene 1870, Jane1877 and son Charles 1872.
Would like to compare notes on these men's parents and grandparents.

Lila had a 1/2 brother Joseph Bethel Nesbit his daug lived at Branson Mo a couple years ago.

I'm looking for the parents of Ann Nesbit born about 1797. Ann married Samuel Wise 1817 Ohio. She died 02 Feb 1838. Their daughter MaryJane Wise married John Eagon. This is my line.

My great Grandpa Gilmore told the family her father is George Nesbitt. Her brothers and sisters are John, Ellen and 1 unknown.
