Don't believe Thomas Nelson jr. had a son, James Nelson...his children were : William, Thomas, Phillip, Francis, Hugh, Elizabeth, Lucy, Mary, Robert, Suzanna, and Judith........Maybe James is another name of the sons named above.....not sure...but have never seen him listed as just James....

Sue,
Thanks for your note and the reason for the query. Perhaps one of Thomas Nelson Jr. 's children had a son, James?

Yes, Scotch Tom did have a brother named William, who went to Barbadoes and apparently died before his father, Hugh, as he is not named in Hugh's will, but his son, William is....an article from the Louisa County Historical Society Magazine about John Nelson clerk of Court for Louisa mentions his line....
"William Nelson, brother of Scotch Tom, was born in 1674 in England (Penrith, to be exact) and died in Barbadoes in 1701 (July)...William married Hesibah(Hezibah) Salmon...they had one son, William....after William's death, Hesibah married Benjamin Bissell.....Their son, William was born about 1701...he lived first in Barbadoes then moved to Yorktown by 1724...wife unknown, but his children were : William, John 1742-1790 (Clerk of Court of Louisa co.,) and Hepsibah....William born 1701 was called William Sr. to distinguish him from his cousin William (President) Nelson , son of Thomas...William Sr. was to die "virtually penniless" in Yorktown in 1749......His brother John was appointed "Clerk of Court of Louisa co. by the "Hon. Thomas Nelson, Esq. Deputy Secretary of Virginia" on January 6, 1766....his children (John's) were Hepzibah, Sarah Phillips , Salmon Hugh and William....

I have been researching my husband's NELSON family. It has been told to me that there is a connection to the Yorktown NELSON family. I have been unable to prove or disprove anything. Do you know if any of those NELSON'S or their descendant went to Newberry, S.C.?

I am searching for the parents of Abner NELSON. He was born ca 1790-1795 in either S.C., N.C., or VA. He was married two and possibly three times. He was married to a Nancy Eleanor VANOVER "Elinner - Ellen ", Thursey Ann RUNNELS/REYNOLDS, & possibly an OSBORNE.

Thank you.

YOU ARE CORRECT IN THAT THERE WAS NO JAMES Nelson son of the signer. I descend from Francis and am a representative of the eighth generation starting with Thomas "Scotch Tom" Nelson who was a grandfather of the signer.
