Has anyone any Photos of the "Neagles" that lived in the Lyndon,Caledonia, Vermont. They lived there sometime in the years of 1900-1965 I think. Also came from the area of Megantic, Quebec, Canada.
Especially interested in Mary & William Neagle(brother & sister they were) This would help me in the family ties I am looking for. Thanks

Hi Elizabeth,
I too am researching the Neagle name from Caledonia Co., VT. What I have is this:

James Neagle, born in Ireland married a Mary Glesson/Gluson, also from Ireland. Children I have for them are 2 sons (names unknown), and Alice Neagle born 1823 in Ireland.

Alice Neagle married my gr-gr-gr-gr--grandfather
edward Ward Murphy, born 1815 in Ireland and died 1883 in either Lowell or Newark. VT. They were married 1843 in Quebec at St. Sylvestre Parish. I have 10 children for them, born in either in Canada, Lowell, VT, or Lyndon, VT.

Maybe there's a connection here? Would love to learn more about these Neagles!

Sincerely,
Janice Roberts

Hi,
James/John Neagle and Mary Gleason/Glesson/Gluson were from Ireland born about 1801. I believe both died in Ireland. Their daughter Alice (also seen as Bridget) came to Canada first and married Edward Ward Murphy in Quebec in April 1843.They then moved to Vermont where they both died in the early 1880's.

I was really wondering if you knew what part of Ireland they came from. My 2g grandfather, Bernard Neagle came from Sligo Ireland sometime between 1851(?) and 1853. I don't know his arrival location in the US, but he settled and died in Richmond, VA. He married Georgianna Dunlevy, also Irish, but born in VA. I believe he had a brother, Thomas Neagle, also born in Sligo, Ireland, and died in Richmond. I think there were at least three Neagle brothers who Came to Richmond about the same time, maybe four. Some Neagles from Richmond may have gone to New England to work in the Granite mines with other brothers or cousins, I'm not sure.
