My great-grandfather was Benjamin Franklin Neafus.
He lived part of his life in Bixby, Oklahomas. He was orginally from Kentucky. He had 5 children. 3 sons and 2 daughters. His wife was Luella Mae. The children were William Herbert, Charles, Fred, Buelah, and Hallie Mae. He died in 1962. The official age was 99 but my grandmother (Hallie Mae said he was 102.)
He had a prettiest head of white hair. He was 6 ft at the time of his death and I am sure he was taller when he was a young man. I have some stories from Grandma Hallie.
Sincerely,
Nan Poland Butler

Nan,
You are my second cousin! My father is William Herbert Jr. the son of William Herbert Sr. I just talked to my dad about your letter and he said he saw your Grandmother Hallie sometime last year when she came up from Texas(?) to attend my aunt Bernices funeral. I am 45 years old and have never had the chance to hear many of these "stories" as my dad was the youngest child too and doesnt remember much himself. Can you please tell me these stories from Hallie? I would love to hear them. I am in posession of Benjamins old "Victrola" and use it as a cabinet at my work. My dad said it was the first of it's kind in the area and that Benjamin called for everyone to come over and listen to it when he first bought it. A funny thing I later learned was that a very dear friend of mine (that has since been killed in an accident), lived on land that belonged to Grandpa Ben. I never knew this until my dad picked me up over at her house one day. The strange thing is....she had an old cat that kept following me around sitting in my lap and staring at me and his name was......that's right....BENJAMIN.
Good to hear from you!
Take care and please write again,
Lisa R. Neafus

Rick, i've not personally been to the cemetary. My mother has. I passed through that area several years ago, but i wasn't sure how to find the cemetary at that time.
I as well as my mother are descendants of Benjamin (my gggrandfather).
