Carl J. Naas, 77, of Springboro, died unexpectedly February 16, 2011 at St. Vincents Health Care, Erie, Pa. He was born in Spring Township October 19, 1933 at home on the family farm, a son of Kasper and Anna Stumpf Naas. He graduated in 1951 from Springboro High School. He was a veteran of U.S. Army serving as a clerk in a basic training company. Carl worked at the Albro Packing Company in Springboro for 19 years. He retired from Molded Fiber Glass Company in Ashtabula, Ohio in 1995. He was a charter member of Christ Lutheran Church at Shadeland, serving in many ways, President of church council, choir member, and member of the Bible Study Group. He was a past Master of Western Crawford Lodge #258 of Conneautville. A member of Zem Zem Shrine, President of the Spring Cemetery Association Board. Also past officer of the Springboro Fire Dept. He was a boy scout member and went on to be Scoutmaster of the troop in Springboro where he was a mentor for many fine young men. He raised beef cattle in his retirement, was an avid hunter and loved to be in the woods, a caring man who was always helping others and serving in any organization he belonged to. He was the chief fish fryer for the Masonic Lodge.
In addition to his parents,
he was preceded in death by his brother, Casper;
and three sisters, Patty, Betty, and Anna.
Two nephews, Pete Jafko,
Jim Stagl,
Carl Rettenmier.
Survivors include his beloved wife of 57 years, Glenda (Shuler) Naas.
His sister, Lil Naas of Springboro.
Three children, Darla Ferris (Brian), of Woodbridge, Va., David Naas (Trudy) of Springboro, and Mark Naas (Robin) of Conneautville.
Four grandchildren, Patrick Ferris (Cara), Kathryn Ferris, Samuel Naas, and April Smith (Nate).
Two great-granddaughters, Paige and Libby Smith. Many nieces and nephews also survive.
Friends may call at White-Cool Funeral Home, Conneautville, Pa. on Friday from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. The funeral will be Saturday at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home with Pastor David McIlvried officiating. Interment will be at Spring Cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by White-Cool Funeral Home, 1405 Main St., Conneautville, Pa. The family suggests memorials be made to Christ Lutheran Church, c/o Barb Ledden, 228 E. State St., Albion, PA 16401, or to a charity of the donors choice.
