Hi Sharon
Yes my husbands branch went from Horton to Biddulph Old Hall and Overton before moving to Bagnall then back to Horton. Alot of them are buried at St Lawerences Church Biddulph. Does any of that tie in to your Myatts? There is a lot in the Potteries area but these lines tend to be in the pottery or mining industries. The Horton ones tend to stick with farming and public houses.

Hi Sharon, Sorry for the delay I've only just seen your post.
I do have a couple of Prudence's and Martha's in my tree but I dont know if this is just a coincidence or not. However, with such great unusual names in your tree (Zillah and Tamar) I will have a quick search around and see if anything connects.
I will get back to you if I find anything interesting,Thanks.

Hi Deborah, Happy New Year!

You have a great amount of detail there which really should help to tie you into the English Myatts. However, the more I read about John Myatt b.abt 1726 who may have Thomas as his father the more complicated it seems to get-sorry!
Just earlier I happened to be reading some notes on this site about these men in a book by H David Myatt etc, I'm imagining you may have heard about it or read it yourself.
It appears to cast doubt on the idea of Thomas Myatt born 1698 in Horton, Staffordshire, England being correct as Johns father-I know nothing about this personally, I just happen to have read about it an hour ago!
Apparently the connection was made by someone (?Dr Kennedy) making 'deductions' from details found in the Wake County and Johnston County Court Minutes, nothing criminal!

The biggest issue appears to be that if John was born/baptised in 1726 unfortunately the Thomas considered to be possibly his father died in 1713! Also it mentioned that if all the children 'credited' to John were his, his first son would have been born when he was very young.
I'm really sorry if this theory is new to you and a bit of a shock!
If Johns father really is Thomas, then you are very lucky as you can join your husbands line into the Myatt line of Horton, Staffordshire that extends back many years in that area and is on Public Trees on this site. Try searching Myatt and Baddiley as parents of Thomas.
Sorry about the format, despite 'previewing' and trying 'edit' to do paragraphs etc computer not obliging!

Hope this info helps in some way!
Best Wishes.

Hi Sorry the dates are way out. The Thomas of Thomas and Sarah I mentioned was born in 1697. I do have a later Thomas and Sarah but with no daughter named Sarah. There is also a line which went to the Newcastle area near to Whimore but again I can't find a Sarah. Sorry hope you have more success elsewhere.

I'm looking in to my dad's family. I know a lot of our Myatts were from Shropshire & Montgomeryshire but I do remember seeing Staffordshire mentioned and have been informed that there were also some in London and now USA. On my family my father is Andrew Myatt (1958) son of George Myatt (1922-1970). George was the son of Benjamin Joseph Myatt, who was the son of Andrew Myatt. Andrew's father was Edward Myatt and his grandfather was Richard Myatt. Not sure if there's a connection just seeing if I can find some people to help. None of my family knows much about the Myatts.

My 4th great grandfather, John Miot (Myatt) came from Horton.
Birth 1726 in Horton Valley, Staffordshire, , England
Death Sep 1792 in Raleigh, Wake, North Carolina, United States
Married Elizabeth Allen
My lineage: John, Alexander, Joseph Henry, Joseph Warren, George Pinkney, Roy Joe.
My father, Roy Joe was born in Texas and moved to California about 1942.
I've always hoped of one day traveling to Horton & connecting with relatives. I'd love to see the home where some were born (Ashes) and visit the St Michael's church graveyard where many are buried.
