I have not been able to back past Manie Ferguson's father, James Hardy Myatt. I've been told by an Aunt Claudia Myatt Mays that James father was Wiley S. Myatt and wife, Elizabeth Bullion. A relative found in the 1870 AR census where some of the Myatt children were living with some Bullions in Pulaski Co, AR. Aunt Claudia also told her that Wiley S. was killed in the Civil War and that Elizabeth married a Rev. Brown. She is suppose to be buried in a cemetery around Guy, AR but I can find no record.

When I search for Wiley Myatt I get information that there was one Wiley Myatt in the 12 Missouri Infantry. He entered as a private and left as a Lt. in Conferate Army. Does anyone know this family. I say a few Wiley's in the list but they appeared to be in North Carolina.

Wiley Myatt supposedly married Elizabeth Bullion and they settled in north central Arkansas. My great grandmother lived a to 105 and I remember she used to talk about her family coming from Kentucky, and her grandparents having a lawn party for Jefferson Davis. I don't know if it would have been Wiley Myatt side, but we cannot find the Wiley Myatt side.Wiley's son, James Hardy Myatt eventually married an Permelia Vinson and had my great grandmother Manie Lee Myatt Ferguson. She was born in 1880. So I figure James was around 1850's, and Wiley S. would have been around 1830's in guesstimating! Thanks for any help. I have a Wiley Myatte as the father to Lyddie Myatte.

Lyddie Myatte married William Bullock who was my gg grandfather. They lived in Grave Co. Ky. I do not have anything else at this time except there are some Myatte buried in Graves Co cemetery.

I do not know if this is of any help or not.

What years would they have been in Graves Co. KY? I am trying to figure out if it is the same one. My Wiley S. Myatt may have been in the Civil War in the 12 Missouri Infantry. Do you know what years he was alive? Thanks so much for your response. Sincerely Tracie

Tracie,
I believe your Wiley S. was the oldest brother in a family of five children, the youngest of which was my gg grandfather John Harrison Myatt. All info you need to connect your line to ours is at: < http://frontpage.mindinfo.com/myatt/GenConnect.htm >

They lived in Ripley County, MO and had a farm there. At the outset of the Civil War, Wiley, and his two brother James and John joined the irregular cavalry...the 15th MO Cavalry, and served as a protection force for the county against the Union forces in the area. That part of MO saw the bloodiest, most cruel and gruesome events of the war and many families went west or south to escape. The Myatts went south to Arkansas, mostly in White county Arkansas. Some of their descendants still live near there today.
Two of Wiley's sisters married into the prominent Dalton family and lived well the rest of their lives in and around Walnut Ridge, Hoxie, Egypt and Jonesboro, Arkansas.
Hope this helps,
Jon

The lawn party for Jefferson Davis refers back to the Vinson family who moved to Arkansas from their Kentucky plantation during the Civil War. I am the great grandaughter of Permelia Vinson. My grandmother was Alpha Gemima Myatt who married Jesse White Moore and lived in Gilbert, Arkansas. Alpha was the sister of Claudia Myatt Mays. I've been looking for James Hardy Myatt's family for years, along with many others. I recently submitted my DNA for the DNA23andme project. Hope that gives me some leads. If anyone has information about Wiley Myatt who has been identified as the probable father of James Hardy Myatt, please contact me.
