MUSCATINE, Iowa - Marilyn Munyon, 66, of Muscatine, passed away Friday, November 7, 2003, at her home.
Funeral Service at the Ralph J. Wittich-Riley-Freers Funeral Home. Ralph Jeamby will officiate. Honorary Bearers will be Brandon Aguirre, Rocky Darting, and Rod Ortega. Pallbearers will be Vince Munyon, Scott Neblung, Steve Aguirre, Dan Ganzer, David Viner, Mauricio Ortega, Randy Wagler, and Damon Viner. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery.
Marilyn was born on June 11, 1937, in Muscatine, the daughter of Charles William and Viola J. Williamson Stark. She had been a resident of Muscatine all of her life.
She was a 1955 graduate of Muscatine High School.
She began working for the City of Muscatine in 1972 retiring in 1995, as the Personnel Administrator after 23 years of service. While employed with the City, she coordinated many United Way Campaigns for City employees. Marilyn belonged and was very active in one of the local investment groups where she strived to make more than she lost. She also belonged to the Muscatine Landlord Association. She had a life long love and fascination of antiques and was known to frequent an auction or two. Taking the skills learned from upping other's bids she turned her enthusiasm towards hunting for treasures on E-Bay. She co-owned an antique store for a short period of time and still had antique booths in a couple of Muscatine locations. Many Muscatine residents know Marilyn as the Mustard Seed Book Lady. Marilyn was also an accomplished artist and studied art in college.
She is survived by one son, Vince Munyon and his wife, Maria, of Chicago, Illinois; one daughter, Julie Aguirre-Neblung and her husband, Scott, of Muscatine; four grandchildren, Erica, Kacey, Taylor and Brandon; and six step-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
