How do you do, Peter. My name is Barbara
Mungovan Koch, Great-Great Granddaughter to Thomas C. Mungovan of County
Clare. He came over to the States on a vessel owned by his Uncle...un-named, in 1845, at the age of 15.
I have since come to learn, only recently, that his parents were indeed, Daniel
Mungovan Mary Shannon
Mungovan, of Kilmihil, Kilherush, COunty Clare...forgive my spelling. I have also spoken to an Eammon
Mungovan, who is the son and now brother, to the most current heir to the land our forefathers lived on, in Ireland. I have several pieces of historical info, including maps from the
Griffiths Valuation of 1810-1880, showing the exact land-holdings, location and numbers of acreage.
I have been trying to find out more information about Thomas' family, and have now been made aware of Daniel Mary. I believe that Daniel's Father may have been a Patrick, also referred to as "Patsy," but have been unable to find anything more concrete. I wonder if you may have any contacts, or pictures, or anything that you may be willing to share, to aid me in connecting to these brave souls who laid the groundwork for our tenure, here. I would gladly share of my resources with you.
We're going over to Ireland for the first time, in August/September for my Dad's birthday. Dad is the oldest of 6
Mungovan sons, of Joseph A. Mungovan Sr. Honor
Murray Mungovan Of Chicago, Il. Joseph Senior's parents were William
Ellsworth Mungovan, son of Thomas, and ALice
Campion Mungovan.
I am Joseph Jr.'s Joan Mungovan's 4th daughter of 5...living in the suburbs of Chicago, West of the City. Many many wonderful stories, there. As the family historian, I would be most grateful to share and pass on whatever you may have.
I thank you for your kindness, in advance, and am eager to hear from you at your convenience. Thanks, again.
