These are terrific documents and they do look like they belong to the Goochland David Mullins, not ours (i.e. married Athilia David Mullins, born in Charlotte VA). Interesting also that the name of the wife on these chancery court documents is Rosana, not Susannah Herndon as some trees suggested. The DAR crossed out Susannah and put in Rosana on one application I got from them.

There is no question that there was a David Mullins in the 14th Reg, but others claim that it is the Goochland/Henry County David Mullins, not our "Charlotte" David Mullins. On findagrave.com, there is a picture of Sr. David Mullins tombstone (Henry County VA) and it has the 14th Reg,Rev War on it. That David Mullins apparently also named one of his children, Henry Greene, after Gen Greene who was associated with the 14th Reg, I think. So it seems likely that the DAR David Mullins from the 14th Reg belong to the Gouchland guy. And I can't find any record "our" David D. Mullins serving elsewhere, although I thought the suggestion to look into VA militia was worth pursuing.
