Well, I'm not a Syracuse Muench - but am a Rochester Muench. My Grossvater came to Rochester from Frankfurt in the early 1880's and we have been here ever since. He worked at Cunningham Carriage Co as a painter. Of course, we have heard of the candle company. And we have seen Muench Rd (or St) in North Syracuse, I believe. Years ago I met Mark Muench (Fairport NY) who told me he was originally from Syracuse. I don't think we are in any way related to the Syracuse clan, unless it's some remote ancestor. I believe our name is a medieval German spelling of the modern "Moench", which means "monk".
