I am looking for information about the ancestors of Charles Muench and Margaretha Heckmann Muench. I'm also curious to know about the wherabouts of any of their decendants. Charles Frederick Muench was my great grandfather. He was born, apparently, in Saxony on July 13, 1939. He died on December 1, 1914. He married Margaretha, Marguerite, Heckmann on October 30, 1865 in St. Louis, although they had come from Osage County, MO. That's about all I know about my great grandmother. My great grandfather was in the carriage making business in St. Louis until the 1914 (no doubt a continuing lucrative business by that time). The business was located at 810 Walnut St., St., Louis (now a multilevel parking lot). These folks had a number of children including my grandfather Walter (who worked for great grandfather), born in 1877, Charles, jr., born 1869; Bertha, born 1870; Ida, born 1874 (secretary, who married Louis Caesar owner of Caesar's Cafe on Pine Avenue in St. Louis); Clara ( a dressmaker), born 1875; Emma, born 1878; and Joseph, born 1880. For many years, the Muench family lived at 3818 Windsor Place, St. Louis. This is where the family was living when the senior Muenches died. However, in 1877 they lived at 1713 Franklin Avenue, St. Louis. I don't know if that house is still in existance. The house on Windsor Place is now a vacant lot in what appears to be a rehabilitation area of the city within a few blocks of the VA Hospital.
