Just to clear up some ambiguities. Mracek translates to English as "small cloud". It is not common in czech republic but not comletely unique either. it is somewhat rare but not extremely so. mrazek and mrasek are not the same name! mrazek means "little frost" and is much more common than mracek. mrasek is also a different name. i am of the new jersey mracek family which we have traced back to bohemia. We came from Kolin in bohemia (slightly east of prague) and before that have traced our Mracek ancestor Tomas/Jonas Mracek back to the early 1800s. he was a shepard in Popovice and was married to Dorota (Dorothy)Dekastorova. Their son Jan Mracek was a cooper or barrel maker who married Marie Burian (daughter of a Kolin cobbler). They gave birth to Jan Mracek (my great grandfather) his two brothers and a
sister in Kolin in the mid 1800s. My greatgrandfather came to USA in the 1890s.
