Hello,
I see you have posted for a long time. I'd like to mention that I started researching the extended MOURA / ROSE family tree this summer. I hadn't had time for 2 yrs. And, from new postings, and new information available on-line, I now have more details about the family.
To begin with, my husband's great-grandmother, Mrs. Philomena "Phoebe" (ROSE) MOURA was born in Portugal ~1874. I'm assuming the Azores. The 1920 census for Cambridge, MA, says that both of her ROSE / unknown parents were born on Madeira Island. If she was born in the Azores, perhaps the family moved over ~1870. I don't know anything else about that ROSE family.
"Phoebe" ROSE married Francisco "Frank" MOURA around 1890, probably in the Azores. They reportedly had their 5 children on Sao Miguel, and they were born between 1891 and 1912. Between 1905 and 1915 the mother and all 5 children migrated to MA / US. The father was reportedly a whaler and possibly he had died at sea. Or, possibly the couple separated around 1900.
The son, Manual MOURA, b1891, moved from MA to Brooklyn, NY, around 1920 and remained there. The son, "Frank" MOURA, b1893, moved from MA to Oakland, CA, around 1920 and remained there. The mother and her 3 daughters remained living in Cambridge, MA.
I'm seeing on-line that around 1880 Azorean families moved to both the San Francisco Bay area and to the Hawaiian Islands. Perhaps families in both areas moved back and forth. I do not know whether the MOURA families in CA in 1880's were related to the Frank MOURA arriving there ~1920. But, they could have been.
By the way, last night I received brand-new information, and one of Frank & Annie's daughters married into a SILVA family. Other daughters married into the BETTENCOURT, FERNANDES, and GOMES families.
