I wanted to mention that I also posted a query on the Portuguese-Genealogy Group at www.google.com
and a very helpful researcher has responded with a lot of information for me. I just received it this afternoon, and haven't had a chance to understand it all, as part of it is in Portuguese. But these records show different first-names than the names the family were known by in Massachusetts. And, I'm seeing that Mrs. "Phoebe" MOURA had at least one brother in MA (ROSA surname).

During the coming week I'll try to summarize what I've been offered.
