My dad doesn't know anything about any of them because they all died before he was born, or too young for him to remember. He was born in Aug 1930, possibly in the Bronx. He did grow up in the Bronx, but raised his children in Bridgeport, Connecticut. He was married to Mary Jane Bernier. Any help anyone could give about either of his parents' names would be greatly appreciated.

I have information on my great-great-grandparents, Owen and Johanna Morrissey, and their children - Mary, Johanna, Katherine (Kate), Ellen (Nell), Ann or Anna, James, and Bridget. The parents emigrated around 1862, possibly from Limerick, to Ohio and then to Clinton, Iowa by 1866. Owen served in the Union Army while in Ohio. Mary married Christopher Callahan from Fulton Co., Illinois. Katherine married a man named Wegener and moved to Park City, Utah. I am interested in finding any information about the parents' time and/or relatives in Ohio and about the descendants of Mary and Katherine, if any.

Philomena,

Unfortunately, this DNA is for males only. It tests only DNA passed from father to son. There is a separtate DNA test for the female line, called an mtDNA test. Since the surname changes from one generation to the next, these are much harder to organinze and figure out who potential matches might be.

Mike Morrissey

Information should be available from reference sources since Morrissey (no relation) was nationaly famous as champion bareknuckles boxer, casino owner and congressman (1866-1870).

According to "Currier and Ives, The Irish in America" by Kevin O'Rourke page 112 John Morrissey was born in Templemore, County Tipperary in 1831; emigrated to Troy NY. He was a "Shoulder Hitter" for Tammany Hall, boxing champion, gold rush participant and in 1864 "built the Saratoga Racetrack." He died in 1878.
In the meantime I have made contact with your relatives in Swindon & exchanged lots of information and photographs. I do hope you will make contact at some stage in the future as I have lots of information for you & also "lots of cousins" here in Ireland. Your grandfather was born in Midleton Co Cork Ireland(not Limerick). Your grandmother came from Kilkenny, Ireland. You still have 1st cousin of your grandfather living here , he is now 83 yrs. His sister lives in Uk & she is 79. Hope to hear from you soon. Regards. Frances

Hello, i have all the data of your DEANE family. Michael Deanes family Father,Mother, His siblings etc. They were a large family so there are lots of "cousins" etc. Have tried to contact you via email, but my messages keep being returned.

I am hoping you will check your message board and contact me.

My interest in the Deanes is my best friend was a DEANE before she married and I have been doing research for her and came across your messages. She has lots of photos also.

Will wait for you to hopefully get in touch. I know sometimes with this "genealogy" when you are not getting any leads you give up and go back again at some stage.

I live in County Cork Ireland in the same town as all your ancestors.

Best regards.

Looking for any information for the parents of Rose Ann Laport, born 1861 or 1863 in Moores Junction, Clinton Co, NY. Her death certificate states that her parents were John Laport and Emily Morrisey. I have been unable to find them on any census record. The first record I have of Rose is her 1888 Hartford City marriage to Clarence Truax. It was his first marriage and her second. Her first was to (Unknown) Bennett. The first census record she appears on is 1900 in Meriden, New Haven Co, CT, where she states both of her parents were born in NY. Rose m/3 Irving Terrice. She died in 1938 in Meriden. Any clue to her early history would be greatly appreciated.
Looking for more info on Mary Morrissey who married a Moran

Hi I am looking for more info on a Mary Morrissey, she was born sometime in the 1800s. She married a Daniel Moran, she had at least two son's I know of named Frank Michael Moran. And Micheal Moran.
Mary Morrissey might of been born in Ireland,(but I could be wrong) I found her son Frank in the 1910 census for Maryland, and it said he was born in Massachusetts. So I am guessing that Mary and Daniel were maybe married in Ireland then came to the USA. I do not know how long they were in Massachusetts, because at one time they must of moved to Cumberland Maryland, or their son Frank moved by himself to Cumberland Maryland.
I would like to know more about Mary Morrissey, like her birth date, where she was born in either the USA or Ireland or some where else. Or who her parents were or how many Sister's and Brother's she had, that would be great. I am interested in her because in June 2006, my Dad found a very old picture of her son Frank Moran taken around 1905-1910 in a very old frame, behind a picture of my Grandfather. So
if anyone know's you can either reply to the post or e-mail me at Homer0816@aol.com I know I might have another e-mail address, but I juse homer0816@aol.com more.
