Clotilda Morris English Blundell b. 1827-1833 in Mississippi or Alabama settled in Lavaca, Texas

Seeking any information on Clotilda Morris who married William English 1st then 2nd William Blundell. William Blundell and Clotilda Morris-English's children were William Blundell, James A Blundell, Catherine A Blundell, James Oscar Blundell, Mary Blundell, Joseph Blundell and Saly G Blundell. I believe Clotilda and William English had one child, William English who was born in Mississippi. The family settled in Lavaca County, TX by 1850.
I am related through Catherine A Blundell and would love to exchange information.
This may or may not be connected but I found the name satterfield connected to my morris History... but it begins in NORTH Carolina and doesn't seem to connect to Alabama at all. My fourth great grandfather, Cader Minton, married an Alsey Satterfield (1808-1880)and their son Zachariah Emerson Minton had a daughter named Cordelia and she married my gg grandfather James Alfred Morris on April 16, 1883. Their son George Emerson Morris was my great grandfather.

Robert, I've not ever been able to find out *anything* about her... many researchers continue to believe George Thomas married a Matilda Strowbridge, as that was what descendants on our side always said. How are you descended from George and Matilda?

Re: Endless Morris

There was an Endless Morris living in the Indian River Hundred in Sussex Co., DE in 1800. There was also one in 1810. I found that in the will of Mary Jones 1800-1801 her daughter Polly was written of as the wife of 'Inless' Morris. There are 2 handwritten notes from the estate attached to this will (on microfilm) where his name is properly spelled Endless. Another Endless (I Assume another one) married a Sarah Morris and divorced her. My email is peaceweb@comcast.net

PS I know where the infant daughter of your grandfather Endless is buried. lot 227 sect 206 Mt Moriah. Henry was buried there in a large plot with his grandchildren who didn't make it to adulthood, Emaline was one of them.

I am looking for my Grandpa Carl's parents, grandparents and ancestors. I have found my Grandma Mary's family, but I have yet to find the correct family members of my Grandpa Carl. If anybody has any information on them please let me know. They all lived in Evergreen, Alabama or moved from Owassa, Alabama. I would greatly appreciate any and all information, I would also love to be a part of your Morris Family Site. With thanks and blessings, Roxane Evelyn Copeland (Morris). P.S. I was told on many occasions I have Creek Indian in me and my face looks like a Indian with a straight sharp nose look and I have a crooked little finger on both my hands, another trait of the Morris's

I'm searching the descedents of the above. Both were born in Scotland; Robert around 1898, Mary Ann around 1899. Mary Ann was my gradfather's neice and emmigrated to Coleman in 1923. Her parents were John & Cecelia Burrell. I think Robert was a local Councillor. I know that Robert died in 1976 and Mary Ann in 1964, both in Coleman. I have nothing on their family and the subsequent family expansion, assuming they had children of their own.

Any information would be gratefully received.

Willie Burrell, Lanark, Scotland

I have recently begun researching Sylvanus Morris who is my ancestor. (My mother's maiden name in Morris and my middle name and one child and grandchild have middle names of Morris.) Family documents mention him, his role as a Justice for many years, his wife Catherine Brodie, and his son William. I do have interest in determining his father, who I believe to be William Morris (dates approx. 1685-1746) who came to America in 1730 from Glamorgan County, Wales. And I have interested in who his mother may be, particularly if she is not Tabitha Walker. My documents do not mention William's spouse.

In a recent search, I found a Tabitha Worsham (not Walker) who married Sylvannus Morris in November, 1796, according to Virginia, Marriage Records, 1700-1850. But I also found a Silvannus who married Sarah Esken in 1781 in those records. Have no idea if this is my Silvanus.

Hi Lesley
Good to hear from you. I know less about your branch of the family than some of the others. I didn’t even have Bessie Lillian as one of Major Frederick’s children!
I am the grandson of William Morris’ youngest son, Frank Alfred.
I have the Morris line back to Evan & Elizabeth Morris in Comb Moor, Herefordshire (William’s grandparents – not very far back). But I have some of William’s wife Martha’s line back to the early 1600s in Elcomb & Compton Bassett. Martha would be your 3xgreat-grandmother, I think.
I’d be delighted to swap info with you.
Mike
Judi
Not sure if he is the same one if he was born in WV or NC. The David M. Morris I have was born about 1860, but in Indiana. His father, David A. Morris, was born in West Virginia. See the Switzerland County, Indiana census for 1870.
David A. Morris's wife was Maria Margaretta Carpenter, born in Ohio in 1817. David M. was the last of their 9 children. Maria's parents were George Carpenter and Susannah Casad. They first lived in Warren County Ohio, and later moved to Dearborn Co. IN and Ohio Co. IN. George Carpenter owned several parcels of land in those counties. Maria was their 3rd daughter.
Susannah Casad (Maria's mother) was from the Casad family that I'm really interested in. Her father Nathaniel was born in New Jersey, and migrated to Maryland, Pennsylvania, and finally Ohio.

Sergeant Witton Morris and variations

On the IGI, I have found the marriage of Abraham Morris and Elizabeth Joy in Canterbury on 10 or 12 January 1777. They were from different parishes so the dates are probably when the marriage was recorded. He was an ironmonger aged 27 and she was aged 24.

Their children were:
1. Sergeant Witton bp 3/8/1777 Canterbury - married Elizabeth Hemsley in Lewes on 30/9/1810 and then Jane Hills on 10/6/1830 - he founded in Brighton Morris's Royal Repository for Tunbridge Ware
2. James bp 5/9/1779 Canterbury - I think he m Mary and is the father of SWM baptised 6/7/1835 in Shoreditch
3. Mary-Ann bp 26/8/1781 Canterbury
4. Sarah bp 9/4/1784 Lewes
5. Mary bp 12/1/1786 Lewes
6. Abraham bp 2/5/1787 Lewes - I think he married Elizabeth and is the father of SWM baptised in Brighton in 1812
7. Edward bp 12/1/1788 Lewes - I think he is the ancestor of SWM who married Emily Tibbitts in Edmonton in 1857

Should there be another son John that is not recorded anywhere at present?

On the IGI, I found John Morris and Maria Pilfold (also Pitfold) at St Nicholas in Brighton or Brighthelmstone (not sure when the name changed) on 8 September 1816. I have a note that John was a cabinet maker on his sons' baptism records. I have found Maria Morris, born Brighton 1793 and widowed, on the census from 1841 onwards. I think she died in Brighton in 1871.

As far as I can tell from the IGI, they had at least 4 children baptised at St Nicholas:
1. Abraham 1817 - married Elizabeth Cutler nee Mauhant in 1857, also a cabinet maker so probably part of the family Tunbridge Ware enterprise
2. William 1821 - a whitesmith who married Catherine Ellis in 1851
3. Sergeant Whitton 1823 and/or 1824 who died Lambeth 1847
4. Mary Ann 1827

My husband descends from William Morris and Catherine Ellis.

The record in Canterbury in 1777 is the earliest I have managed to find the name Sergeant Witton Morris and suggests to me that perhaps Sergeant Witton introduced Abraham and Elizabeth but who knows?

I have seen archived messages about this name dating from 1998 and 2004. Has anyone managed to get anything further on this?

Thanks
I will be happy to send you an invitation to join our Morris Family Researchers group on MyFamily.com. Currently there are 45 members - there is a larger group organized to find DNA match-ups to the various Morris family lines. You do not need to be a Morris to join. I will also send you an invitation to this group which currently has 149 members. I will need an email address (the same one that you use for your Ancestry membership would be best)as well as first and last name.
Betty Morris Byers

Betty,

I would appreciate an invite to the Morris Family Research group as well. I've had little trouble with my ancestry research - except the Morris family (my mother's maiden name). my email addresss is: carleastvold@gmail.com

Re: Keziah Morris

Keziah Morris was the daughter of Thomas Morris and Catherine Fouch, both of whom were dead prior to Keziah's marriage. John Hesser, brother of Thomas Morris's second wife, was Keziah's guardian. Hesser filed his guardian bond 12 August 1833 in Loudoun County as guardian of the three orphaned sisters Sophronia, Lucinda, and Keziah Morris.

Hesser had given permission, as guardian, for her older sister's marriage just a year earlier. I've always been curious why Keziah did not marry in Loudoun and why Hesser did not give his permission. The obvious answer is that she defied her guardian and probably lied about her residence in Maryland.

In Virginia, women under 21 still required the permission of a parent or guardian to marry at that time. But Maryland permitted women aged 18 or more to marry without permission. I estimate that Keziah was born in 1819, so she was over 18 but under 21 when she married.

I have George Morris born abt 1790 in Virginia ans died 1 June 1860 in Mason County, Illinois. All of his children appear to have been born in Ohio or Kentucky. His son William was born about 1832 in Kentucky; base on the 1850 Census. I don't know if this helps you or. Happy Hunting Scott...

Cora (Huss) Morris, b.1863, wife of George Morris, of Henderson Co., IL

I have an original 2-1/2”x2-1/2” photograph of “William Huss and Cora (Huss) Morris”, which I’d like to get back to descendants or family members. Photo was taken in about 1895 and he looks about mid 30s while she looks about 30.

I found William and Cora in the 1880 census for Henderson Co., IL, as William W. and Cora E. Huss, 19 & 15, children of James and Lydia A. Huss. In 1900, Cora E. Morris (born Aug 1863) lived in Gladstone (Henderson Co.) IL with husband George and 7 children; and William W. Huss (born Mar 1861) lived in the same town. FindAGrave shows gravestones of both William W. Huss and Cora E. Morris, both Henderson Co. but different cemeteries. William’s wife’s name was Sarah S. Watson.

Get back to me at margerice@prodigy.net if you are related to William Huss or Cora (Huss) Morris.

I find this interesting is this for you have this George Morris suppose having died between 1855 into 1860.Then you give out the names of the children and one of them is a William Morris well I have a William Morris I have been trying to find out more on him since he was born on May 3,1861 in Pennsylvania. So I wonder when each of his children were born and where??I mean with the uncertain years you give for his death. He may have lived longer or was with one of his children if they all lived into adulthood.
