My grandpa was a direct THOMPSON descendant of a daughter of Lewis Morris of Passage Point and Elizabeth C. Almy, his wife.

The daughterm Elizabeth C. A. Morris married Cornelius TOMSON/THOMPSON.

Col. Lewis Morris b ca 1604 was a sibling to William, Thomas, and Richard who were sons of William MORRIS of Tintern Parva or village. The Abbey was in another and connecting parish. The history of the area is under the old book of the history of the Invasion of Wales by the Normans and falls in the Hundered of TRELECH.

Thomas was the father of Lewis of Passage Point who was orphaned and was given under the care of Col. Lewis Morris via a guardianship around 1665/70 circa.

Captain Richard Morris, brother of Col Lewis and of Capt Thomas Morris also had a son named Lewis........he was given under guardianship to Col. Lewis Morris also after his parents death. This line of Richard is the line of the governorships in New Jersey and also of political nature from Morissiana. Col. Lewis was the actual founder of Morissiana by deeds recorded in the archives but gave over the management and living space to Richard as he preferred to do his own "thing" with the Barbados plantations and the New Jersey Ironworks. He provided the education for Lewis, son of Richard, to law school; he was, however, displeased that Lewis the younger turned away from the Quaker faith and attempted to circumvent his heirship in his last will and testement. Lewis the younger defeated the will and was given the major share of the estate.

Lewis of Passage Point was already set up with his trusteeship funds and ownership of the Tintern Iron Works in New Jersey and was the 1st sheriff of Monmouth County. He was quite a difficult person by all the papers written about his affairs ............and ended up being murdered by his slave(s)........I have not yet received these papers from Rutgers University about the affair.

There are many Lewis MORRIS amongst the descendants of the siblings, Lewis, Thomas, Richard, and William.

William Morris had a son who was called Valentine Morris and some of these descendants seemed to have settled in St. Varans area. At least that is what I have read.

The estate of of the Tintern Manor in Tintern was last owned by the MORRIS family with Lewis the colonel in posession and he sold it after the defeat of Chepstow Castle to the heirs and the line of William HERBERT. I believe this line of HERBERT is the same as that which also settled in Somerset and Monmouth counties, New Jersey but naven't pursued the connection theory.
