GenForum is having a Security Certificate problem on their site according to the message I keep getting when I try to log in over there so I am posting this message here in hopes that the party I am trying to reach will see this.
Re: To LINDA -
You posted on GenForum on 9/1/2014 (so obviously you were able to log on to the site with no problems), anyway, you mentioned in reply to my initial thread via another lady named Theresa
that you had done a Ydna test recently in hopes to resolve your Moody conflict as to which line
of Moody's your family was linked to. I feel quite certain your Ydna results will help you resolve that as we have So many Moody families now that have taken the tests.
If you do match to the ydna family branch that Theresa and myself also share back to, that will
be Great!! I did do some looking around at your family branch on Ancestry's census' today and I could not find a marriage record for your Henry Hampton Moody and his 2nd wife Charlotte A.
I kept finding a Peter Moody and Jonathan Moody in Fentress Co., TN however with children and wives names similar or the same as your families. Do these folks connect somehow or are they just a coincidence?
In the 1880 Chickasauba, Miss. Co., ARK census I did find a Mrs. Sharlot (spelled that way) MOODY age 42 b. MS KY KY head of house
son James age 15 farmer b. ILL ILL KY
Nancy 13 - daug
Rufus age 11 son
Florence age 4 daug
Samuel 7 son
and William MOODY age 5 son
Living NEXT DOOR to her was
G.W. MOODY age 20 farmer b. Ark ILL ILL
Emer (female) age 17 wife b. SC TN NC
and Georgia or Georgie A. daughter age 1 b. Ark
A few pages over Same Census (town etc)
a J. A. MOODY age 28 farmer b. IL IL IL
J. M. age 26 wife b. Ark TN TN
and Minnie Ann age 8 months old daughter b. Ark IL Ark
was also living nearby so they are apparently all family.
Given that Henry H. MOODY age 45 and wife Charlotte A. age 38 were living in 1870 Chickasauba, ARK (Barfield Pt. Post Office district), with children named:
Aaron, Joseph, Henry, George, Mary J., James, Nancy and Rufus MOODY and a John RICHISON age 17, all under the same roof tells me that Henry H. Moody must have died sometime between 1870 and 1880 and that Mrs. "Sharlot" MOODY of the same town in the 1880 census was his widow and that the J.A.MOODY and the G.W. MOODY heads of households living near their mother were two of her grown and now married sons.
I've never heard of any of our Ydna MOODY's living in these areas before so if indeed you do share Ydna with us, you will be the first to have links to these areas.
We do know for certain that we link via Ydna to Moody's from the Giles, TN area and other parts of Arkansas, Missouri, Mississippi etc., but I think IL will be a first. I noticed that a LOT of folks in that Massac Co., IL census were from TN. Wonder if they received land grants to that place for some terms of service during war time?
Please let us know on the MOODY board at GenForum if you do indeed match Ydna with our branch, we always love having new "cousins" to welcome into the ever growing family tree.
Hope you can somehow find this message.
Take care.
