Hugo was his father. Joseph Oscar Monnig moved to Palestine, Texas in the early 1900's to manage the family's Long Lake Plantation which primarily dealt in Cotton and Grain. He had no descendants.

I have the newspaper article signed H. Monnig, but I don't know the name of the paper relating the marriage of Larkin Wesley Hunt and Bertha deGuentz in Rhineland (St Martins church), on July 18, 1876. I thought that you could find the curriculum vitae of Hugo Monnig in your book. Thanks for looking.

I am unable to find the name of the newspaper, of which you are seeking. The marriage would have probably taken place in Hermann, MO. There is a church in Hermann called St. George. If the marriage was under the catholic church, they would have a record.

I am searching for Hugo Monnig who lived in America Montgomery County Missouri. The family members were in 1870 Hugo Monnig Caroline, Catherine, Frederick, Louisa, Ida.
Hugo Monnig was reporter for a newspaper on July 18, 1876 at the marriage of the great grand father of my wife. Don't you have in you papers the name of the newspaper?

I just found your query and think I can help you. August Monnig and Margaret Puttmann are my 3rd great grandparents. His son August Minning (yes the name was changed) married Mary Olive Hilliard. They are my 2nd great grandparents. August was killed by another man. He was shot around Christmas in 1890 and died about a month later leaving a pregnant wife and 2 small children. She later remarried Henry Malcolm Loyd. August and Margaret's daughter Margaret married Adam Huber in 1898. They had 3 children. The youngest, Millicent, died in 1996 of cancer. She was a really nice lady. She never married. What sort of info are you looking for? I probably have much to help you.
I love it when I meet a cousin! So who are your relatives exactly?

My sister recently purchased a bible with the Monning surname in it. We bought it in Odessa Tx. The family were from Calloway Ky. The family page was dated 25 Dec. 1892. I am Adam Cone's grandson. I can relay some information if you are interested. Uncle Joe and Aunt Fannie Maude Adam's mother is Susie Belle Dupuy, I believe, or something Belle Dupuy. She was sisters, I believe with Fannie Maude.

I am related to Fannie Maude DuPuy. I believe she was my great grandmother's sister or cousin. I met Joe Monnig when I was a child. I use to stay at their house in Palestine on Sylvan Avenue. I can try to find out more info from my mother if you are still interested.

I, too, have very little on this family, but the Puttmanns also moved from Cincinnati (between 1850 1857) to Salt Creek Township in Decatur County also to New Point Enochsburg, Indiana. Margaret was born in Cinti abt 1845, Augustus was born abt 1840 according to the 1880 census in Germany. There are too many similarities, huh? Do you know any of Johan Heinrich's brothers??? I have Monnig ancestors. They were from Hanover, Germany. Came to US about 1850. They settled in Cincinnati, Ohio for awhile moved to Indiana through Seymore, Indiana and then settled in Evansville, Indiana. I do not find your names in my family, but I don't know alot about them. The children were all born between 1852 and 1873. The father was Johann Heinrich Monnig born 1827 and the mother was Louisa M. Durre born 1831. I descend from a daughter, Elisabeth, who married George Dauble in 1870. Louisa's brothers were Georg L., Charles, John Henry, and Karl Ludwig.
