POLAND, Ohio - James E. Mollenkopf passed away quietly at the home of his daughter, Linda (James) Crissman, on Sunday, Aug. 2, 2015, after a lengthy illness.
“Jim,” the eldest son of James J. and Helen (Stover) Mollenkopf, was born in Petersburg, on Feb. 12, 1935.
He graduated from New Springfield High School in 1953, and became co-owner and manager of Petersburg Milling Company in Bessemer, PA., with his mother.
After that business closed, he worked for Wittmer Feed and Dairy, and Big Blue Trucking Company.
Jim will be sadly missed by his two daughters, Linda (James) Crissman of Struthers, Ohio and Lora (David) McNutt of Boardman, OH; grandchildren Gregory, Joshua, and Ashley Crissman, all of Ohio, and Stephanie (Joe) Mollenkopf-Anderson of Florida; great-granddaughters Skylar, Kelly Joe and Jennifer Anderson of Florida; grandson Nicholas Mollenkopf; great-granddaughter Rachael Mollenkopf of Delray, Fla.; granddaughter Ashley Mollenkopf; and great-granddaughter Jayden Sheffield of Florida
He is also survived by his sisters, Barbara Persing and Natalie (Gary) Cowan; brother Allen Mollenkopf; and brother-in-law Bill Wharry.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, the former Doris Mae Wylam, who died on July 20, 2010; sons James and Richard Mollenkopf; brother Richard Mollenkopf; and sisters Janice Gibson and Mary Wharry.
Jim enjoyed going out to dinner with his family and friends, following basketball and football games on TV, and working.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, Aug. 6, 2015, at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Homes, Poland Chapel, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
A short celebration of Jim's life will take place at 1 p.m.
The family would like to thank MVI Hospice for their wonderful, compassionate care of Jim throughout his illness.
