Not sure if any of you are still following this section -
I am Kevin Tollefson (44) - grew up in Mitchell, SD. Living in Sioux Falls, SD.
Son of Randall Tollefson and Mary lou (Moke) - from Stickney
Grandson of Walter Moke and Eileen (Giedel).
My Grandfather was a descendent of Gottlieb Moke. I have been on many of the family homesteads and began doing family genealogy about 12 years ago, but have not worked on it in about 10. I may have some answers for you; but I am at work right now and do not have access to my data base.

Hi crissy I am related to you on your dad's mom side od the family hazel sampson wurm. cousin illa may sampson rumbolz might know some thing. we both do family tree. she grew up with all of your dads wurm side of the family. My grandmother was a sister of Sophia Markla Sampson. She would be a great great grand parent. donna long hanson.

Because Lottie and her daughter Louisa were killed in the earthquake, I don't know that there were any descendants. Henry remarried and may have children. Lottie is my 1st cousin 3x removed.

My grandpa, Daniel Kapa Moke Sr., passed away a few years ago. My father, Daniel Kapa Moke Jr. still lives on Kauai. Honestly, I am not quite sure how much, if any, information my dad may have about his grandfather Kapa Moke. Sorry.

Kapa Moke is my great grand father. He adopted a son named Daniel Kapa Moke. Kapa Moke was married to Molly Hipa. My mother Donna Moke and her brother Daniel Kapa Moke Jr. Was the son and daughter of Daniel Moke Sr. and Yoshiko Shimono.

I tried to read the earlier threads posted earlier. I don't know what the question was re: Kapa Moke

I know that Kapa Moke had a brother named Daniel, and 2 sisters I think

Daniel Keikiokalani born 1861 & Kawahine Hookano born Nov. 1867. She had 10 children youngest girl Caroline and Healaniku (k) Kawahine Hookano parents were Kapaulu born about 1820 & Uaua born 1830 also known as Kuaua. Kapaulu father is Paaniani also spelt Paniani of Hanapepe

Elvira Arizona Moke,b.d.May 1846, died in Carterville, MO in
Jasper CO.
married my GGgrandfather, David Oliver Adams,BD. March 1839, in Indianapolis, Ind. Married: 14/Feb/1865
Their daugher: Margaret Ann Adams.. BD. 1891 in Paris, Ill.
died in 1922 at her home in Douglas County S.
of Cabool, MO. in Douglas Co. from a blood
clot in her leg several weeks after a stroke
Margaret Ann Adams married Samuel Alfred Butts who was
born in 1871 in Cape Giradau, MO to John and
Elizabeth (Lucy) Warren. They married on
March 11, 1894. Samuel died in 1954 in MO
and is buried in Cabool, MO in Texas CO. at
the Cabool Cemetery
Margaret and Samuel had 4 children...three daughters and one
son. (Della Frances, Mrytle Omelia, Elmer
Austis, and Ethel Leota)
Ethel Leota Butts, born December 2, 1904, married on 4/Oct/1925 to Luther Mullins. They had 4
children, Luther Mannon, Margaret Annn, Douglas
and David Mullins in BArtlesvillle, Oklahoma
where Luther worked as a fireman and his
brother, William Jesse Mullins, was the Mayor.
Luther was born in Bedford, Tennessee in
December 23,1885. He died from a blood clot in
his leg following surgery in Sept. 1967 and is
buried at the Cabool Cemetery in Cabool, MO in
Texas CO. MO. Ethel died on 13/Nov/1984 after
many years of parkansins disease and several
strokes. She was at the Kabul Nursing Home in
Cabool, MO for many years and her sister, Della
went everyday to care for her.
Della Frances Butts Killion died in June 1999 at the age 104
Ethel Leota Butts and Luther Mullins Oldest son, Luther
Mannon was born on November 24, 1926 in Bartlesville,
Ok. He married Eva Mae Smith in Cabool, MO in Texas CO
They raised four daughters: Eva Ann, Sandra GAil,
Gloria Jean, and Marla Reene' Mullins. They married on
February 17, 1945 and celebrated over 50 years together
before Mannon passed away in January of 1998 at his
during the night following a long battle with bladder
cancer with complications of diabetes.
I am Sandy Mullins/Claussen, the 2nd daughter of Eva and
Mannon Mullins. I was born in 1950 in Cabool, MO in
Texas CO because when I was born the Dr. would no
longer come past the city limits to deliver babies as
he did when my older sister has been born. SO, I was
born at the home of my Daddys' Parents, Ethel and
Luther Mullins at second and Broadway in Cabool, MO.

I have the names of David and Elviras' chilcren, Also the
brothers and sisters of the other people listed here if you want to contact me.

Although I knew Danny Moke also, I was not aware that he had a son named Kapa.....

Moak Family History 1740-1960 Complete and ready if anyone is interested in a copy. I wrote some time ago about the Moake/Moak Family Book I have. Yes, there are Moak/ Moake’s in there. It is a 322 page book , a Wealth of info! This book goes back to Moak’s of 1740- 1960. It is wonderful and has documented sources, Indexed, Bibliography, the works. We have had to reprint each page by hand due to it being so fragile and having only one, it has taken a long time, but is complete. We have had them bound also. The cost is $35.00 includes shipping and handling.

I just Googled Kapa Moke and found this site. I don't have too much to add to your study, but Kapa was my neighbor in Koloa in the early 1950's. He was an engineer on the Koloa Plantation locomotive Paulo and was a talented slack key guitar player.

The 1920 federal census for Garfield Township, Douglas County, SD, lists Ernest C. Moke, his wife, Christine R. (both born in Silesia), and their children: Albert F., Elsa M., Helen F., Amanda E., Viola M., and Gladys R. (born in SD). In addition, the 1930 census has Walter C. who was 7 years old; Christine was a widow at that time.

Is anyone related to Theodore Hill (born 1876) and wife, Laura? Their children were Theodore, Willliam and Mary. They were residing in Pittsburgh, ward 12, in 1920.

Following are two census returns that I believe mention the same William Hill, Theodore's father.

Sarah Hill may have been my great-grandmother's sister,
Sarah Roy. The Hill's were living next to my great-grandmother's and her parents, John Robert and Margaret Roy were living two doors away.

I would like to find out if Sarah and daughters, Maggie and Clara, died before the 1880 census. It would appear that
William Hill married Mary Moke prior to that census.

Any help appreciated.

I have a Barbara Eve (Moke) Walter in my family that immigrated from France on April 23, 1823. She settled with her husband in Hancock County, Ohio. She is buried there and has a German transcription on her tombstone. Her maiden name Moog was anglicized to Moke. Barbara's father was Daniel Moog of Alsace, France. And Barbara was one of six children.She had siblings named Daniel, Madeline, Coroline and David. Maybe the others immigrated around the same time and settled in different locations Try using Moog as a surname and see if you come up with anything.

hey there, one more question for you if you dont mind...are you familiar with the mitchell south dakota area. there is a photography shop there called Mokes photography, and the last time my father (royce) and grandma were there (lucile) they were trying to figure out how we were related to them. (we are all living in san diego now.) do you happen to know who these people are? thanks

My husband's grandmother was Gladys Bormann originally. She died three years ago. She married Gerhardt Neugebauer who was Emma Moke's son. Emma was married to Fred Neugebauer. They were from the Dimock area. The only other thing I know is she was born in 1880. Thanks

Hi everyone, i am just as curious as the rest of you about my unique last name. i know that my grandpa walter moke was of german decent but i cant be sure of the origin of the name. most of my moke family history (which i know very little about) is in the south dakota area, mainly Ethan, where my father, royce moke grew up. so if anyone can help or knows any mokes that grew up in the area...id be interested in knowing who some of my distant relative were.

Go to familysearch.com and type in ELVIRA MOKE and hit search. You will find 2 Elvira Arizona Mokes listed (both the same person) but the second one has more info.

I am researching Mokes in IL also. Mine are Jess Martin Moke and Edith Ada Kennedy/Canady. Have you run across these names in your research? Any help appreciated.

My gggrandfather born 12/3/1796, married 10/6/1818 to Margaret Fisher, died 7/30/1853 in Paris, IL. Would like any info on his family. One daughter Elvira Arizona Moke married David Oliver Adams, my ggrandparents who later in life moved to southern MO. Please email any info you have. Is buried in Paris, IL. on Sassenbrenner land. Understand they had a stage stop on the Vincennes road.
