Hi, my dad was a Mockridge born in Newark, NJ. I have been in touch with Phil Lothrop and another person. We have been sharing info for years. I think Phil may have already answered you. The Norton name has showed up all over the family tree, both as a middle name and last name.

I have a lot of info on Mockridges: my mother was Margaret Mockridge before she married. Her father was Charles Elwood Mockridge 1879-1974. Charles Elwood Mockridge's father was Joseph Babbitt Mockridge 1852-1926. They were all from Newark, NJ but had connections to Mendham in Morris County, NJ.

My Uncle was Warren M Norton,B 1888-1989 not much on him out there he married to my Aunt Francis( Bertie )UK lineage, from NY. NJ. The M is Mockridge.she died in the 60's but he remarried. I know not to whom except he traveled alot was an ins salesman. and lived in Calif. I do not think they had children.

These are my greatgrandparents.My grandfather was James Pool(e) Mockridge born 5-4-1875 at 30 Clifton St,Hammersmith.He joined the Duke of Wellingtons Regiment on 21/10/1897 and saw service as a batman in India.On return to the U:K.he married my grandmother Violet Thornton on 26/11/1904 at Halifax Register Office(a Local girl and also headquarters of the regiment).They were barracked in Ireland at the time of the outbreak of WW1 and my grandfather was sent to France with the BEF(Old Contemptables)and spent the whole of the war at the front and was at the Battle of Mons.He gained a long service medal(i.e.25 years) before leaving the army and was then employed as a commercial clerk until his death at the age of 71 on 2/6/1947 at 91 Highlever Rd,Kensington.James Pool and Violet had 5 sons James,Cyril,Laurence,John(my father) and George.Prior to the 2nd WW all the brothers were employed in the print industry except Laurance who died in the early 30"s.After the war James went to Broadstairs,Kent where his only daughter Betty resides.Cyril got demobbed from his wartime duty in the Royal Navy in Sydney,Australia and married Enid and had 2 sons.My Dad John developed T:B: and was advised to leave the fog/smog of Putney in the late 40"s and we then moved to St.Leonards;E.Sussex where he had a newsagents with my mother Ethel(Doll)nee Butler.I had one brother(Brian) who sadly passed away last year leaving his wife & 4 children.I(Barry) the youngest son have 2 children/5grandchildren living in Hastings.I took early retirement and with my wife Maggie now live(since 2000)in Mallorca.My Dads youngest brother George died in Gloucester where his oldest son(Peter) lives and his other brother Jim still lives in the capital at Pinner.

Ann's parents were THOMAS MOCKRIDGE, born 1757 in Compton Martin, Somerset, England and MARY WILLIS, born 1756 in Easton Somerset, England. William and Ann had a son WILLIAM G. Have any Mockridge family members suffered from GM1 gangliosidosis.

This is a hereditary chromosomal abberation that is carried down the Mockridge line. I lost a daughter to this disease and for obvious reasons would be interested as to where this abberation came from.

I may be a descendant of the Thomas Ralph Mockridge. I need to check dates with my Dad. I am based in South Africa where Ralph died. I had a great aunt Margret and a great aunt Louise on the Mockridge side so it seems a good fit. Louise moved to America and Margaret died here. My father was an only son and I have one brother. Our tree is relatively small.

My connection with the Mockeradge family is via my Grandad, who I have found out was adopted shortly after his birth, when his mother died. His birth mother was Phoebe Waller Brackstone, and her parents were Henry Isaac Brackstone and Mary Ann Louisa Mockeradge and Mary is the Aunt of your Elizabeth Selina.

If you send me your email address I will forward a report to you showing what I know of the family. It is a bit complicated with the adoption issue, but I will try and make it as clear to you as possible!

As far as I know I do not have a Robert of that age in 1841, mine was born in 1846.

Had a look through my lot and the only Robert I have is born 1849 and died in 1877. I have his trade down as a Labourer or a Brickyard Labourer from the 1871 census and his death certificate. I don't have any marriage for him at all.
