My surname is MOXON. About 1790 the name evolved from moakson, mockson, moakeson, mockeson. The family resided in the Yorkshire area England.
Joshua Moakson b.1785 married Mary Hatersley they had a son Isaac Moxon chris 1790 in Silkstone Yorkshire.A second marriage records his wife as Mary Mokeson. Isaac married Sarah Middleton in 1836 in Kirkby Wharfe, yorkshire. Isaac's son Joshua Middleton came to Aust in 1867. If the reader can add to this information please do. Regards Ted Moxon.

Hi,
thankyou for your reply. What you have is exciting. The dates dont match but thats not always reliable.
As far as I know:
John Moakson 1716 married Mary Haigh. their son:
Josuah Moakson 1751 married Mary Hatersley. their sons were:
Josuah Moakson1785 married Mary Mokeson.
Isaac Moakson 1790 married Sarah Middleton 1804
My line comes through Isaac. Have you any other clues? regards Ted Moxon.

Hi Ted,
I think we must have some connection but do not know where.
My Grandfather x 5 was John Moakson b1660 in Silkstone
" " x 4 Caleb Moxon or Moakson b1696 "
" " x 3 David Moakson b 1755 in Wakefild
" " x 2 William Moxon b 1786 "
" " x 1 Henry Moxon b 1826 "
It was Caleb who moved his family to Sandal Wakefield in 1720 taken from West Riding Settlement Index.
Hope this info is of some use.
Regards rcoucom
