My maternal grandmother's maiden name was Moad. She lived in North Georgia and died in 1971. She had a brother by the name of Ruben Moad. Their father was named James Moad, I am pretty certain. However, he died young and my grandmother had a step-father by the name of Wallace, I believe. She lived to be 86 or 87 years old. Was very short, wore a size 3 1/2 shoe!! (we bought her the designer samples)---she had long black hair she wore in a braid, twisted it into a bun on the top of her head, very black eyes and olive skin - we always thought she had some Indian in her. Do the Moad's all come from England? Never knew. My grandmother married Arthur Collier Moore and had 8 children-5 sons, 3 daughters.

Hi Lucinda, I've been trying to find a connection between my MOAD ancestors from the north of England, and Moads in the USA. I've published what information I have on both lines on the genealogy section of my website http://members.tripod.com/geordie_gen/genindex.htm I think you may find some things of interest to you there. I was interested in what you said about dark eyes and olive skin as someone told me they believed the English Moads were of similar complexion and descended from Spanish Pirates, but I haven't yet been able to investigate that theory. Regards, Carol Green.

Hi
I saw your thread about James Moad and Mary Stafford.
James and Mary are my 3X great grandparents.
My paternal grandmother was Honorah Moad, wife of John Bryson. She was the daughter of James Moad and Elizabeth Birkett and the granddaughter of Stephen Downs Moad and Ann Scandling. Stephen Moad's parents were James Mode and Mary Turner.
I'm afraid that I haven't been able to go any further back than that.
Regards
Jan Grant (nee' Bryson)

Wylie Moad is my great grand uncle. Your information is correct. He married Martha Emiline Fry. They had a daughter, Derusha, who married Columbus Green. I don't have much information on them. I have quite a bit of information on the Moad line. I would be interested in exchanging information.
