Looking for descendants of Bartow Madison Mixon, born 2 Aug 1866, died 25 Oct 1948 in Bleckley County GA. Bartow married Mattie Crosby in Bleckley County c. 1892. Their children were: William Bartow b 22 Apr 1895, Mattie Bell b. 14 Dec 1897, Annie Mae b. Nov 1899, Mary Lou b. 3 Jan 1902, Jim Frank b. 1904, Lillian b. 11 Jan 1908, McCluney b. 1909, Alice b. 11 Jan 1910, Katie b. 18 Mar 1915 and Essie Lee b. 1918. Much research has been done on parents of Bartow, his siblings, etc. This family is very interesting. Willing to share. Am particularly interested in locating additional photos of members of this family.

Bartow Madison's father was Michael Mixon (perhaps James Michael or George Michael Mixon) and his mother was Drucella Balkam/Balkcomb. Michael and Drucella married in Jones Co. GA. 15 Dec 1850. Michael's father was also Michael Mixon (we call him Michael #1); mother was Zelphia (maiden name unknown). They were living in Twiggs Co. GA by the time of the 1830 federal census. We believe Michael #1's mother was Sena as we find her on a later Twiggs census with grandson Michael living in her household. The family is believed to have migrated from SC and/or NC and from Ireland originally. Twiggs Co. Ga. courthouse has burned twice so Twiggs records are scarce. Please tell me more about your Crosby family.
