Bartow Madison's father was Michael Mixon (perhaps James Michael or George Michael Mixon) and his mother was Drucella Balkam/Balkcomb. Michael and Drucella married in Jones Co. GA. 15 Dec 1850. Michael's father was also Michael Mixon (we call him Michael #1); mother was Zelphia (maiden name unknown). They were living in Twiggs Co. GA by the time of the 1830 federal census. We believe Michael #1's mother was Sena as we find her on a later Twiggs census with grandson Michael living in her household. The family is believed to have migrated from SC and/or NC and from Ireland originally. Twiggs Co. Ga. courthouse has burned twice so Twiggs records are scarce.
