Valentina,

I realize this is an old thread, but am also trying to find information on my Grandfather, Michael Miroshnichenko (Miro).

He is from Poltava, Ukraine. I was told his father was a groundskeeper for a large estate in Poltava. His mother (a Drobot), was a homemaker. I know my grandfather was a lieutenant in the army, around 1920's.

He was a member of the Ukrainian National Choir. When the choir came to perform in New York in 1926, he stayed in the US, settling in Chicago. As best as I can tell, he came alone. Although I'm pretty sure I found his brother, who lived in Boston (never had any children). You mention Adelaida was an opera singer, which is the only connection I see between us (music), but maybe this little bit of information will help.
Hi,
thanks for your msg - i was wondering if it was possible to get in touch with your mum and see what she may know about the Miroshnichenko's from Ukraine - we might be related who knows. I live in St Mary's with my husband and a newborn baby (2 month old). Looking for any clues or connections to our family on my fathers side. I have 2 sisters and mum and no other family here in Australia so it would be lovely to have some contact. Let me know if that isn't too spooky for you....otherwise i can send you my number and she can call me.....please let me know. We are and have been so curious to find some genealogy on that side of the family for many years.

Thanks - Valentina

Sorry, I haven't found any more about my wife's family either. I know that my father-in-law says that his ancestors (Kuzma Vacilivitch Miroshnichenko, born ca. 1885; his father Vacil Valivitch Miroshnichenko, born. ca. 1860; and his father Vacil Miroshnichenko, born ca. 1840) were all born in Kherson Oblast, Ukraine. They did not migrate from there to northern Kazakhstan (Kokchetav Oblast) till around 1890. The Miroshnichenkos were Black Sea Cossacks so it may well be that they intermarried with Polish women, not sure. I know that the Kravchenko, Levchenko and Mirgorodsky families married into the family.

Good luck!

Hello,
My name is Valentina Miroshnichenko.

A few years ago i posted a message looking for any information on my grand-father Nikola Miroshnichenko and his father Vladimir Miroshnichenko (his mother Adelaida Vladislavovnaja - Miroshnichenko we are told was Polish and an Opera singer). I know its been a while and i didn't do anything further as i got discouraged with the little information that we have at our disposal - due to the fact that the only family i have in Australia is mum and 2 sisters.......we are desperate to find out ALL that we can about our Miroshnichenko line and would love your help and assistance. If you are still around on this site please please please let me know what information you have...anything at this point will be more than we have....thank you in advance-

My email address is valentinamiros@hotmail.com Sydney Australia

Kind Regards

Valentina (desperately seeking ancestors)

Miroshnichenko in Ukraine and Kazakhstan

Looking for any information on the Miroshnichenko family of Kherson, Ukraine and Sucinsk and Pasinka in Kazakhstan. We are interested in the ancestry of Hrihory Vasilivitch Miroshnichenko (b. ca 1913 Pasinka, Kazakhstan, m. Marina Kravchenko, d. 1943 during the Cossack charge on Nazi army in Volgograd). His father was Vasil Kuzmitch Miroshnichenko and his mother was Uliana Levchenko. He left four children behind: Anastasia, Boris, Vladimir, and Nikolay. The Miroshnichenkos were Cossacks sent by czarist officials at the end of the 1800's to guard the "virgin lands" (northern steppes of Kazakhstan and Siberia) from enemy forces. They originated in Kherson, Ukraine and the Levchenkos from Chernihiv and Poltava, Ukraine.

Thanks!

How nice to hear from you, Valentina. How odd, my mother-in-law's name is Valentina Leonidovna Miroshnichenko (nee Talanova). I am so hoping anyone will be able to help us out. I know that so many church's containing records were destroyed in the Bolshevik Revolution and I am worried that our records may have been lost. I do know, from my father-in-law, that many of his great uncles (Hrihory's brothers) were in the White Russian Army and martyred by the Bolsheviks in Kazakhstan. There is a memorial to them near Sucinsk. They were devout Orthodox Christians and loyal to the czar.

If I hear anything from another source, I will let you know. Please do the same, if you can. I know that in Australia there is that very strong Info Ukes website. Here in the States there is a Cossack association in New Jersey with some genealogical information. I believe that my wife registered herself, as well as her parents, and we are hoping to get something from them. Miroshnichenko is not that common of a name, even in the former Soviet Union. I know that there was a great opera singer in the 1930's and her last name was Miroshnichenko and I believe that the hockey player (Andrej)on the Kazakhstan Olympic team was my father-in-law's distant cousin's son.

Since our Miroshnichenkos were originally from Kherson, I assume that they were Black Sea Cossacks (not Don, Kuban, or Astrakhan).

Take care.

Hi, my father is also a Miroshnishenko, living in Brisbane in Australia. He knows very little about his father- who was killed in the battle of stalingrad except his name was Mikhail and he was an engineer. He was married before and my father has a half-sister somewhere called Irinya he thinks. My father lived in Kiev in or near Borschahofskaya and left for Germany when he was 5. I would love to trace his sister or if possible his cousins. His father had 4/5 brothers but we do not know their names.

Thank you so much for getting back to me. My great-grandmother - Adelaida Vladislavovnaja - is originally from Poland and before she married - not sure after -she was an opera singer. I don't know anything else about her-i have one photo with her name on it and that's about it. I know from my grandmother that Vladimir Mirosnicenko was so loyal to the czar that he wouldn't accept any other citizenship and therefore was kicked out of Yugoslavia and eventually died and was buried in Bulgarija. He was a maths teacher and his family were cossacks. Vladimir left in the 1920's with his sons Nikolai and Evgenije - not sure if his wife was still alive. I hope that there are still records out there for us to find. They are important to me and i am so grateful to have found someone else who is interested in the Miroshnichenko name. If something does come up i will definately keep you posted. I will check out that website you mentioned. Once again thanks.
