My grandfather, Amilcare "Mike" Miori came from Arco/Riva. His birth certificate and his passport read "Austrian". He came to the US on the Philadelphia liner through Ellis Island in 1907. He settled in Jenners, Pa. where he had six children with only four surviving. He returned to his homeland, which was now under Italy rule, in 1920 because his wife Vittoria Bellotti Miori died. We live in Solvay, a very Trentino/Tyrolean village in upstate NY. If you went to the Tyrol Club and told them that they were all Italians and not Austrians, they would probably put you into the polenta!
Best wishes. (My father was Nilo Miori, the only one of his brothers and sisters to come back to the U.S.)
