I don't seem related to the existing Miale stories--or is their a connection in the old world? My grandfather, Gaetano--a barber, and his wife, Maria Ciccarone, came to the US in about 1908 with 3 small children--Peter, Portia (later Rose) and Joseph. They came from a small town outside of Bari (Aquaviva della Fonte?), and left the youngest child Lucia because she was too young to travel. Peter is my father, he married Gizella Szalay and I have a brother, Peter. Joseph married Julie and had Barbara and Judi. Rose never married. T I do not know anything about Gaetano's or Maria's families, whether there were siblings or other family members who came to the US. Does my family sound familiar to anyone?

I think we may be related. My grandfather, Vito came from the same town in 1916 when he was 10. He had a cousin here who may have been your grandfather. There is also a Domenico Miale listed on the passenger list form Ellis Island as Vito was on. Did your family live in the Bronx?

I am Carole's son, Daniel. I have been doing a lot of Miale research and have connected some of the people in this thread. Are you related Frank?

My mother, Carole Miale, originally posted in 2002. Sonam2003 responded ten years later, and now two years after that, we have figured out that Carlo and Gaetano were brothers!
