Now that I know where John Mhoon is buried, perhaps someone out there can tell me where Josiah came from. Am running into dead ends. He was married to Mourning, that's all I know. Any help is greatly appreciated. Maybe Mr. Glover, would you know?? TX, VM

I can't believe no one has responded to you. I just happen to look on this message board. I haven't been in ancestry. com for months. I just decided to read today. You are the first person I have read talk about Mhoons from Calhoun, Missippi.By the way the county court building burned down some many years ago and records were lost. Here is the little I know. My grandfather, Odies Mhoon was born to Vollie and Reena Mhoon in Calhoun Missippi in 1924. He had three siblings, Audrey (female), Robert, and Izola (male). They were raised by their grandparents Jeff and Mannie Woodard after their father mysteriously killed his wife. I am African American. My grandfather Odies identified as Black, but if you saw him,you could not tell. He looked like an Indian. I do not know the ethnicity of Vollie or Reena. Hope it helps. I had fun writing my first message on the message board.

I got your message, but I've been waiting to ask some family members if they know these Mhoons. I do not. I still need to talk family members who might be more familiar with family in Missippi. I will write again I just wanted you to know I got the message, but I'm still working on it.

Hello, I too am looking for information on the Mhoon family. There are a few more of us than I thought. I am descended from the AL Mhoon, John, who went to California after the Civil War. I understand he had three brothers, Leonidas, James G., and William S..All the brothers were in the Confederate army being born in the 1840s. I'd love any information when and if you find it. Thanks, Verona Mhoon

Dear Rachel, I tried your data base and will try again for better luck. I know we have family in Miss. After the Civil War my great grandfather and his three brothers scattered it seems. I found the descendant of one brother in Arizona. My great grandfather came to Oakland, CA in the late 1860s. His family was from AL and many are buried in the "Mhoontown" cemetary. Jan has marriage bond info on them. E=mail me and maybe I can help.

I have some names that might be pieces to your puzzle. Verona
