Louise (Lucy)Meyer, aged 8 and her sister Henrietta, aged 3 were accepted by St. Joseph's Orphanage in early 1872 after the death of their parents in the 1871 Chicago fire.

Oral history says that they had a brother also. I've not been able to find Henrietta (adopted by J. J. Kenny, Lake or Cook County, IL), nor have i found the brother. Oral history also says the brother was adopted by a well to do family that may be associated with a Chicago Sports team.

We know that Lucy's father may have been a kosher butcher in Chicago and possibly his name was George. Anyone knowing any further info, please reply.
