I am looking for any information concerning Anthony Rene Messier, b May 6, 1862 d 1947. He was married 4 times- don't know much about the other three wives but know he was married to Eva Peltier. It was thought Anthony came from the Port Henry (might be Huron) area in Quebec. He has a brother named Charles and it is thought that his father's name was Joseph. PLease email me if you have ANY information.

HI, I am new at searching for family histories and I wanted to know where you obtained the Messier geneaology you said is published. I'm trying to research the Messier line becasue my Father, Kenneth Earl Messier, was orphaned. I wanted to find out who his parents were. All i have is his birth certificate that gives his mother's name. I wanted to know how to get the listings you have on Messier. Please contact me via email or posting here. Thank you very much.

Messier Genealogy

I have found the genealogy in the various tanguay and
jette books of french families, along with various
church records and census records. I think the only
published Messier genealogy is the one for the 350 anniversary
for the founding of Montreal. I could send you an email copy. Our immigrant ancestor
was Michel Messier (s/o David and Marguerite Bar). The
line is pretty easy to trace from him down to the United
States, after that...the name changes. Thera are many
different spellings including: Macha, Machie, Macia, Machia,
Masha and Messier. Up until about 1850 they were known as
Messiers. It was when the family came south that the name
was Americanized. I have found records with the various
spellings. I have also been in contact with the ancestor of
Michel Messier's brother, Jacques Messier. Please contact me
directly through my email if you would like more information.
I would be glad to share would I have, but I'm still filling in
blank spaces.

Messier/Machia/Macia Family

CharCros54  (View posts) Posted: 10 Apr 2000 7:19PM GMT
My great-grandfather is George Messier who was born
in Roxton Falls, Canada according to the information
I'll found on him. He along with his parents and siblings
moved to Vermont (ABT. 1850) where he and at least one brother joined
and fought in the the Civil War. He married my great=grandmother,
Philomene Brousseau in Massachusetts in 1867. They
had at least 16 children. They lived in the Chester and Fall
River areas of Mass. My great-grandmother died abt. 1900. George
married for the 2nd time in Feb. 1902 in Fall River. The family
bought property in Connecticut and after his 2nd marriage, George
moved his family to the area of Willimantic, Connecticut. George
had several siblings. Some of them stayed in the States while
his parents moved back to Canada. Please contact me directly at
wcrosthwaite@snet.net. My grandparents spelled their name, MACHA, but
other siblings spelled theirs MACHIE, Messier, AND MACHIA
