Martin S. Merritt, 93, passed away March 12, 2009.

He was born November 8, 1915 in Butler, Pa. He served with the U.S. Army as a Second Lieutenant and graduated from Penn State University with a Masters Degree in Engineering. He lived in the Akron area since 1939 and retired from Babcock & Wilcox in 1980 with 41 years of service.

He was preceded in death by wife, Ruth, and daughters, Nancy M. Cole and Becky Jean Merritt. Martin is survived by daughter, Patricia Merritt Martin, and brother, Merce.

Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday, March 16, 2009 at 10 a.m. at Queen of Heaven Church, 1800 Steese Rd., Uniontown, Ohio with Fr. David Durkee as celebrant.
Burial will be at Holy Cross Cemetery. Family will receive friends from 9:30 to 10 a.m. prior to the service at the church. Memorials may be made to a charity of choice.
